🔥 Home Heating & Fireplace Safety Tips

Heaters are a major cause of home fires, especially during the winter months when they’re used more often and longer.



• Have all heating systems serviced regularly.

Ensure heaters, flues and chimneys are cleaned and maintained by a certified technician to keep them operating safely.



• Turn off heating and extinguish open fires before leaving or going to sleep

Never leave heaters running or fires burning unattended.



• Keep flammable items at least 1 metre from heat sources.

Maintain a clear safety zone around heaters, fireplaces and other appliances that produce heat.



• Supervise children around heaters and open fires.

Keep kids at a safe distance and teach them about heat‑related dangers.



• Always use a screen in front of an open fire.

A fire screen prevents sparks and embers from escaping. Ensure embers are completely cold before disposing of them.

Join us this ANZAC Day as we come together to remember and honour those who have served.

📍 In front of Eaglehawk Town Hall
A light breakfast will be available afterwards at the Eaglehawk Fire Station.

🎖 Main Service & Wreath Laying

Everyone is warmly invited to attend both services as we pay our respects and reflect on the sacrifices made for our country.

As we come into the cooler months, our days are lovely, but nights are getting a bit chilly ❄️
Making sure that our heaters are being used in a safe manner is important so our homes, and families, stay safe.
Remember to turn off your heater before bed, keep clothes at least one meter away from all heating sources - including heaters and fireplaces - and always supervise children around heaters and open fires 👪
