What a morning! Over 140 community plus kids and our staff enjoyed a bacon and egg roll, playing handball, reading some books, playing soccer on the oval, sharing a coffee. We love you ALL! What an incredible community we belong to.

🐉🎨 Rowan of Rin Inspires Art!

As part of their learning about Rowan of Rin, students brought English and Visual Arts together to create their own dramatic dragon eyes!
Inspired by their study of literature and characterisation, students explored the Elements of Art, using line, shape, form, colour, texture and tone to bring their incredible creations to life.

A fantastic example of learning across the curriculum, using creativity to communicate ideas and create meaning.

🖤Livin’ Deadly💛Cultural Group❤️

During our Livin’ Deadly cultural sessions, our deadly kids have been working together to design a GEPS cultural shirt that reflects their connection to Darkinjung Country.

The final design brings together so many of our students’ ideas, with Ruby’s layout providing the inspiration for the overall design.

Students shared their connections to the places, plants and animals around us – Brisbane Water and its mangroves, mudcrabs along the water’s edge, whales migrating past the Skillion and emus, kangaroos and echidnas encountered out on Country. These conversations helped shape the imagery throughout the shirt.

💛 The large yellow meeting place represents togetherness, belonging and connection – our students, families and staff coming together as one mob,representing gathering, listening, learning, truth-telling and strengthening our connection to Country.

☀️ The sun represents warmth, guidance and knowledge being passed down through generations.

👣 The tracks and pathways flowing across the front and back represent our journeys across Country. Each person travels their own pathway and carries their own experiences, while remaining connected to our wider community.

We are beyond proud of our GEPS mob!

🐝 BUZZING WITH LEARNING IN KINDERGARTEN! 🌿

Our Kindergarten students have been busy little bees in Science! 🐝

While learning about the structures animals use to meet their needs, students headed outdoors to create special bee pods using clay and sand. Once dried, the pods were stacked together to create our very own bee hotel! 🏨🐝

It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience filled with creativity, teamwork and plenty of excitement. We can’t wait to see if some of our native bees decide to check in! 💚🌿
