🎉 Huge congratulations to Gemma 🎉

We are thrilled to share that another of our support coordinators, Gemma, has been nominated for Support Coordinator of the Year at the Tasmanian Disability Awards. This is the second year in a row that Gemma has been recognised for her outstanding work, which is a fantastic achievement.

Since joining SPIKE in April 2024, Gemma has shown an ability to build genuine rapport and work seamlessly with participants from all backgrounds. She is an easy, natural communicator who brings everyone together and we are so grateful to have her as part of our team and for her efforts to be recognised externally in this manner.

Gemma, we are so proud of you and the positive impact you make every single day 🧡

A huge congratulations to Jamie 🎊

We are thrilled to share that Jamie has been nominated for Support Coordinator of the Year!

Jamie made a bold career switch and joined the SPIKE team in May 2025. Bringing over 13 years of experience in people facing roles, he hit the ground running to support both our Aged Care and NDIS clients. Since day one, he has been dedicated to helping NDIS participants navigate and conquer any challenge.

His down to earth approach, open and honest communication, and his ability to engage with everyone, no matter their background, is truly an asset.

Jamie, even though we know you hate the spotlight, this nomination is so deserved. We thank you for your empathy and for making a real difference to our participants every single day.

We are so proud of you ✨️

Exciting news! 🎊🎆

SPIKE Connections are so proud to announce that Luke has been nominated for Support Coordinator of the Year for the Tasmanian Disability Awards 2026!

Luke started his journey at SPIKE in October 2024 in what was supposed to be 2 days a week to learn the ropes. Very quickly, with a constant stream of referrals, Luke was promoted to full time support coordinator and he has proved time and again how valuable he is to our team.

Luke has found a passion for supporting kids and young adults, and to say he makes an impact is an understatement. He is so dedicated and compassionate, that we always have referrals asking for him specifically.

From the team at SPIKE, thank you Luke for the heart and energy you bring everyday, and for holding down the fort when things go crazy. We appreciate you and everything you do 🧡

NDIS After-Hours Crisis Support: What to know 🌙

🧩 What is AHCRS? The After Hours Crisis Referral Service (AHCRS) is a "behind the scenes" safety net. You do not contact them directly. Instead, hospital or emergency staff use this service to arrange urgent disability support if your usual care has failed.

If you are in a crisis due to a breakdown in supports:

Step 1: Contact Emergency Services Call 000 or contact your local hospital or mental health service. They are available 24/7 and are your first point of contact.

Step 2: Identify yourself to staff to help staff access the AHCRS for you, tell them clearly:

“I am an NDIS participant, my supports have broken down and I am not safe without them"

📌 Important Reminders

🚨 Emergencies: For life-threatening situations, always call 000.

📅 Non-urgent issues: For plan questions or enquiries contact your Support Coordinator or the NDIS (1800 800 110) during business hours.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) After Hours Crisis Referral Service (AHCRS) is delivered by Marathon Health in partnership with the NDIA.
