Victorian School Building Authority Official account of the Victorian School Building Authority. We design, build and modernise schools and kindergartens across Victoria.

We design, build and modernise schools and kindergartens. The Victorian Government is doing this on a scale not seen since free education was introduced in the 1870s. The Victorian School Building Authority is part of the Department of Education. Since 2016, we have managed this education construction boom. Our work is helping every Victorian child have a great local school that sets them up to th

rive. The Victorian Government has invested $1.6 billion in the 2026–27 State Budget for our school building projects. This investment is part of the government's Education State reforms. We have opened 121 new schools since 2017. We have also been busy with more than 2,400 other projects that upgrade or expand schools. Our work is improving conditions and creating new learning opportunities for students. As well as reforming schools, we are transforming neighbourhoods. Our projects are giving schools resources that can be shared with their communities. These resources include:
- new gyms and sports ovals
- rooms for health services
- theatres and other performing arts spaces. We're also helping the Victorian Government reform early learning. Working with the sector, we have a massive construction program underway. We’re building, modernising and expanding kindergartens across the state. This program is making 2 years of kindergarten possible for all Victorian children. Other work we manage includes:
- organising emergency maintenance for schools damaged by natural disasters and other unforeseen issues
- managing a new generation of modular classrooms
- running programs for smaller building projects that make a big difference
- helping non-government schools expand and modernise.

From building confidence and curiosity to supporting children's wellbeing and development, our educators play an incredible role in shaping our youngest learners.

At the VSBA, we're proud to deliver kindergartens and early learning centres where this important work happens every day.

Umarkoo is a Wurundjeri Woi wurrung language word meaning everyone. A fitting name for a school built with community and connection in mind.

Birranga College opened its doors this year!

Its very first Year 7 students have been settling into their new surroundings. The new school will help secondary school students in Clyde North get a great education close to home.

Birranga is a Boonwurrung language word meaning feathertail glider.

This brand-new specialist school is all about community. Fittingly, that's exactly what Marra means in Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung language 🌟

The school is in Leneva (near Wodonga) and opened in early 2026.

Kerribana is a local language place name for the site of the new school.

Richmond Primary School's upgrade is now complete! ✨

School principal Megan Dell explained the excitement surrounding the school's new building:

'We've built a community of students and learners who know how they like to learn, and we'll have a variety of spaces so that they can continue that learning in the best possible way.'
