🔢🖐️ Maths Swat! 🖐️🔢

As part of our Literacy and Numeracy Week celebrations, classes were invited to take part in Maths Swat — a fast-paced and interactive game designed to get students thinking, calculating and working together!

Students had a fantastic time practising their mathematical skills while building teamwork, enjoying some friendly competition and, most importantly, having fun with maths!

Well done to all our students for getting involved and giving it their best! And a big thank you to our wonderful teachers for making time in class to play the game and for supporting our Literacy and Numeracy Week activities.

📚✨ Literacy & Numeracy Week is underway! ✨🔢

Students across the school are getting involved in a range of fun and engaging activities to celebrate Literacy and Numeracy Week.

Yesterday, students put their creativity to work by creating comic strips! They were encouraged to retell a scene, highlight a key event, or bring a memorable moment to life through illustrations, dialogue and captions.

A huge well done to our talented students for their creativity and fantastic efforts, and a big thank you to our fabulous teachers for their encouragement and support! We hope you enjoy seeing their wonderful work below!

5/6P were highly engaged in today’s hands-on learning as they created a two-way decision pathway using block coding to program a Micro:bit!

Students used their code to investigate the conductivity of everyday items, making predictions, testing their ideas and observing the results. One of the biggest discoveries was that the human body is a conductor of electricity! Students were amazed to find that they could use their bodies (or fingertips) to help create a closed circuit.

To add another layer of creativity, students modified their algorithms to include sounds and music, bringing their programs to life! 🎵

✏️📖😁 A day in 1P.

Yesterday our Mittigar students learnt three Torres Strait Islander dances when we attended the Warami dance class. It was great to see our students confidently showcasing their dancing on the stage in front of their peers. They did a fantastic job learning a traditional dance taught by the Brolga Dance Academy. We can’t wait to learn a new dance next week.
