Dreaming on Country – Susan Cook Art Exhibition

As a reward for their regular school attendance, students enjoyed a special excursion to the Susan Cook Art Exhibition, Dreaming on Country at the RM Williams Bush Learning Centre.

Students had the opportunity to explore Susan Cook's inspiring artwork, learn about the stories and connections to Country reflected in her pieces, and experience the exhibition in a meaningful and engaging way. The visit provided a wonderful opportunity for students to appreciate art and culture while celebrating their commitment to attending school regularly.

This semester, Year 7 and 8 students have been exploring Personal Maps, creating artworks that show their connections to nature, community, family, and the things that are important to them.
Students looked at the work of Australian artist Sophie Munns and explored how she uses seedpods, leaves, and other natural forms to tell stories through art. They then used plants and natural objects found around our school to inspire their own artworks.

Using symbols, colours, and patterns, students have created personal artworks that reflect who they are and their place within the world around them.

We love seeing the unique stories and ideas that have come to life through this project!

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Athletics Carnival Lead-Up Events 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Our Athletics Carnival is coming up in Week 9, and to ensure we can fit all events into our program, a number of field events will be held during Weeks 7 and 8.

Families are warmly invited to come along and support our students during these events. If there is a particular event you would like to watch, you are more than welcome to attend.

We understand that some students may be absent due to illness, excursions, representative sport, or other commitments. Please don't worry—any student who misses a scheduled event will have the opportunity to complete it upon their return to school, with Mr Kuhnz organising catch-up events where possible.

We look forward to seeing our students challenge themselves, represent their house teams with pride, and demonstrate great sportsmanship in the lead-up to our Athletics Carnival! 🏅

What a wonderful way to begin Reconciliation Week.
Visitors were welcomed to the school for a Reconciliation BBQ. Our families enjoyed burgers, tea and coffee, while looking through old photographs and sharing stories.
A special thanks to our students and student council members for helping serve the lunch.
Thanks also to Live Better and North Burnett Community Service for providing creative art activities for our students.
It was a fantastic opportunity to come together, connect, and celebrate community.
