Shortly after 10:00am we were called to assist Fire and Rescue NSW at a structure fire near Inverell North Airport. Fire & Rescue NSW Station 331 Inverell suppressed the fire, RFS brigades supported with water supply.

At 7:00pm we were called to a grassfire near Joseph Wills Park at Elsmore. Approximately 5-6 hectares of grass burned and we suspect it was lit with less than noble intentions 😡. Not what's needed with everything being so dry ATM. Thanks to the locals that caught it and called it in! Please stay alert and safe. Bush Fire Danger Period Starts Tomorrow

The Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP) commences tomorrow, 1st August 2026 for the Tenterfield, Inverell and Glen Innes Severn LGAs.

✅ Make a Bush Fire Survival Plan
✅ Prepare your property now
✅ A Fire Permit is required during the BFDP
✅ Notify your neighbours and the Fire Control Centre at least 24 hours before lighting up

Report fires at Glen Innes on the Gwydir Highway to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

19 spot fires have been deliberately lit over the past 2 months along the Gwydir Highway on roadsides and Travelling Stock Reserves from Waterloo Range West to Swanvale Creek, Glen Innes.

The NSW Rural Fire Service and local police are asking the community to report any information about these fires.

​The Elsmore Rural Fire Brigade is currently on the scene of a bushfire burning near Tingha. Our crews have been working tirelessly alongside several neighboring brigades to prioritize the protection of the local community defending at least 10 property assets in the area.
​Crews remain on scene throughout the afternoon and evening to implement tactical backburning operations to help strengthen containment lines and halt the fire spread.
​In attendance we're Inverell Rural Fire Brigade Gilgai RFB, NSW RFS - Tingha Brigade, Tenterden RFB, Guyra RFB, Heavy Plant and one Water Bomber providing aerial support (until dark.)
