♟️ Checkmate at Kingswood! 🏆

Our chess team competed in the tournament hosted by Kingswood College, achieving an impressive 5th place overall!

A special congratulations to Liam Sharp, our highest-placed player, who finished 23rd out of 107 students and Elliot Goldsmith who scored a 4.5, qualifying him for a seat at the Regional Tournament September 10th at Viewbank College: along with 7 of his fellow chess mates.

Adding to the excitement, our team also defeated the host school, Kingswood College!

Well done to all our students for representing the school with skill, determination and sportsmanship. What a fantastic result!

🌙✨ Tales of the Night Sky ✨🌙

Emerald Secondary College is proud to present Tales of the Night Sky, a captivating series of scenes performed by our talented Year 7–12 Performing Arts students.

Written by Peter McKenzie, this production is a wonderful showcase of student talent and leadership, with performance, directing, stage management and technical production all student-led.

Join us for an evening of storytelling, creativity and live performance as our students bring Tales of the Night Sky to life.

🎓 Exploring VET Pathways!

Our Year 9 students recently visited Swinburne University of Technology, Wantirna, to explore the exciting world of Vocational Education and Training (VET).

Students got hands-on with a range of taster workshops, including:

🔨 Bricklaying
⚡ Electrical
🎨 Design
👶 Early Childhood Education & Care
🤝 Community Services

A fantastic opportunity for our students to try new skills, discover their strengths and explore practical pathways for Year 10 and beyond!

🎤 MIC DROP – An Exciting Performance Opportunity! 🎶

🍋 Let’s Get Baking! 🥧

Our Let’s Get Baking students wrapped up their study of eggs and their important functions in baking this week by making delicious lemon meringue pies!

Students practised separating eggs and whipping egg whites to create perfectly light and fluffy meringues. The results were absolutely amazing! 👩‍🍳✨

🏔️ Mount Buller Adventure! 🎿

What a fantastic day our Senior School students had at Mount Buller on Friday! After an early 5am start and a big day on the mountain, everyone arrived home around 9pm, tired but full of great memories. ❄️

The day began with a lesson on the slopes, followed by lunch and an afternoon to explore, ski and enjoy everything the mountain had to offer. ⛷️🏔️

A special thank you to Miss Donders for organising such a wonderful experience, to all the staff who gave their time and support, and most importantly, to our amazing students who made the day such a positive and memorable experience for everyone.
