🐗🌿 Landscape-Scale Feral Pig Integrated Control Program Information Sessions 🌿🐗

Come along to talk to the experts and discover how the program went in your area.

Funded by the Australian Government’s Reef Trust, the program aimed to address the growing threat feral pigs pose to agriculture, native ecosystems and infrastructure.

Together Queenslanders can prevent domestic and family violence 💜

May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month in Queensland.

It’s a time to raise awareness of domestic and family violence and coercive control, highlight available support services, and reinforce that violence has no place in our communities.

Here in the Central Highlands, prevention starts in our homes, workplaces, sporting clubs and community groups. Small actions can help build a culture of respect, safety and inclusion.

There is a Say No to DV March starting at the CatholicCare Offices at 141 Egerton Street at 𝟵:𝟯𝟬𝗮𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝘆. Morning tea will be provided after the March.

🎆 Upcoming Office Closures - Local Show Public Holidays 🎆

Please note that the following council offices will be closed in observance of local public holidays for upcoming shows.

👉 Capella and Tieri will be closed on Friday 22 May
👉 Springsure and Rolleston will be closed on Friday 29 May
👉 Emerald, Blackwater and Duaringa will be closed on Wednesday 3 June

🚧 Lane Closures – Capricorn Highway, Emerald 🚧

In the interest of safety, single-lane closures will be in place on Sunday 10 May between the Central Highlands Marketplace intersection and Nogoa Bridge while clean‑up works are carried out.

🛠️We are carrying out maintenance in Hospital Road

Maintenance works are being carried out on the centre medians along Hospital Road, Emerald. These are staged works with planting occurring over the next few months and we thank everyone for their patience.

Mayor Janice Moriarty said: ‘Such works stem from safety – of our teams and the community, especially road users – and our ongoing aim of improving the visual appearance of our places and spaces throughout the region.’

🚧We have taken steps to address safety concerns about high traffic volumes and the constrained working environment along this section of Hospital Road – and this means there are lane closures from 6am to 4pm until Friday 8 May.

In coming weeks, works will start on the Mackenzie Street medians in Blackwater.
