Did you know Emerald Fire Station has a defib available 24/7 on our external front wall?

Along with several other defibs in town, would be great for local groups to take advantage of this initiative. Well done Emerald AV.

📢 Calling all community groups in the Emerald and district area with an automated external defibrillator (AED)!

Is your AED not currently publicly available and in need of a cabinet?

Our Emerald and District AV Auxiliary is looking to fund 24/7 publicly accessible cabinets for existing community defibrillators, thanks to generous community donations and local fundraising.

The new cabinets mean AEDs will be available 24/7 in a visible, outdoor, public location where they can be easily accessed in the event of a cardiac arrest, rather than inside buildings and available only during opening hours.

The auxiliary will also help determine the best locations for a purpose-built, waterproof, outdoor cabinet.

These cabinets could mean the difference between life and death for someone in cardiac arrest.

If you have an AED in the Emerald and district area which isn’t publicly accessible 24/7, contact [email protected] to learn more.

Last night Emerald Fire Brigade were training alongside Ambulance Victoria as part of our Fire Medical Response (FMR) program.

FMR provides rapid, life-saving interventions like CPR, defibrillation, and oxygen therapy in areas where an ambulance may be delayed or to assist ambulance crews on the ground.

Thank you to Ambulance Victoria and all FMR crew who have taken on this important role in the community.

Emerald Fire Brigade along with Cockatoo Rural Fire Brigade(CFA) and Upper Beaconsfield Fire Brigade - CFA were called to a tree fire today caused by embers from a nearby burn off. With little rain over the last few weeks things are very dry at the moment so please take care when burning off.

This week’s training brought together crews from Menzies Creek Rural Fire Brigade , Macclesfield Fire Brigade (CFA) , Clematis Volunteer Fire Brigade and Emerald Fire Brigade 🚒🔥

Working side by side, we took the time to get familiar with each other’s trucks — what gear is carried, where it’s located, and how different vehicles operate 🧯🛠️

It might seem simple, but it’s incredibly important. At any job, we can be crewed onto another brigade’s truck at a moment’s notice, so knowing your way around different appliances helps us work faster, safer, and more effectively when it counts ⏱️👩‍🚒👨‍🚒

A big thank you to all the brigades for coming together and making it a great night 🤝👏

Last night we put our breathing apparatus sets to good use, getting in some hands-on training to keep our skills sharp and our equipment in top condition 🧑‍🚒🔥

We climbed, crawled, carried, and squeezed our way through an obstacle course, all while carrying an extra 25kg 💪 To finish it off, we tackled a Lego challenge—building a set using only instructions relayed over the radio 📻🧱

We might look like strange creatures in the dark 👀, but this kind of training is what helps keep us safe on the job and ready for whatever comes our way 🚒

Our station apron is an active emergency access point. Our volunteers respond to the station and must be able to turn out appliances immediately and safely. This area is a designated NO STANDING zone.

It is NOT:
• A parking space while you shop
• A U-turn bay if you miss your turn

Vehicles stopping, parking or turning on the apron create significant safety risks for our members and can delay emergency response. Today alone, more than 20 vehicles entered the apron while appliances were responding, creating unnecessary hazards during an active turnout.

Please keep the apron clear at all times. When we respond, every second counts — and safety must come first. Moving forward number plates will be recorded and police notified.
