Anna York

Anna York I am a local mum - I live in Lewisham with my husband and our two young sons. I have led campaigns on women’s issues and public education.

I served on the Inner West Council 2016-21, and worked to make our council a leader in solar + renewable energy, support + engage our incredible local arts community, and to maintain and expand our accessible childcare centres and children’s programs. After spending time at home with my first baby, I experienced first-hand the importance of local government services like the Magic Yellow Bus, F***

y Durack Pool, and Rhyme Time at our libraries. That's why I ran for Council - to make sure the new Inner West Council works, so that all local residents can access high-quality, well run services, and have a say about local decisions. I have a wide range of career experiences that mean I can bring skills from the public sector, private sector and not-for-profits to Council. I have worked to improve the environment for the NSW government, and later in the private sector to support major government reform. I have a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government where I studied with policy students from around the world. I am a passionate environmentalist and was a leader in the Sydney Peace and Justice coalition against the Iraq War.

Huge congratulations Save Globe Wilkins and everyone involved in the effort to continue this world class pre-school in the Inner West.

❤️❤️ BREAKING ❤️❤️ Confirmation this morning that Globe Wilkins will continue at Wilkins Public School in the new purpose built preschool set to open soon. This is a huge win for the Save Globe Wilkins campaign, for parents and students at Wilkins Public School and for the whole inner west community. Congratulations to everyone involved and for everyone in the community who worked together to make this happen.

Very excited to introduce Chloe Smith - Labor for Stanmore-Damun who is taking up the baton at the Inner West Council elections in September.

Get behind her. She is fantastic and Stanmore-Damun ward couldn’t find a better representative.

Some exciting news! I’m honoured to announce that I am Labor’s candidate for Stanmore-Damun Ward at the Local Government Elections on September 4!

I’ve lived in the Inner West my whole life and I love where we live. I’m proud to be part of a community that celebrates our diversity, protects our environment and heritage, and is passionate about our local arts and culture.

I’m standing to represent Stanmore-Damun Ward because I believe we need new, progressive voices to make sure our Council is working for all of us.

I want a Council which delivers first-class public services and practical improvements, while also championing the issues that matter. Here’s what that looks like to me:

Strong and meaningful action on climate change, including expanding renewable energy across our neighbourhoods and protecting our natural environment.

Upgrading and maintaining community infrastructure, improving our roads, footpaths, parking, and waste collection services, and protecting our neighbourhoods from unchecked development.

Support for local business and arts, ensuring the Inner West remains the music and culture capital of Sydney.

Investing in community services to keep our libraries, childcare centres, and neighbourhood spaces accessible and world-class.

Celebrating our diversity and making sure no one gets left behind as our suburbs grow and change.

I’m so excited to have the chance to represent the community I love. I’m looking forward to hearing from all of you throughout the campaign about what I can do to make sure our Council is working for all of us. Please don’t hesitate to get in contact with me by messaging the page - I’d love to hear from you.
