UPDATE: Telstra have advised that services should now be restored. If your Telstra device is still experiencing connectivity issues, please power the device off and then back on.

NSW SES is aware of a widespread Telstra outage impacting mobile customers on Wednesday 8 July.

The NSW SES remains operational and ready to respond to incidents.

🔸 There is no impact to our 132 500 phone line.

Members of the public may have connectivity issues with a Telstra device and are encouraged to call from a different carrier, landline or a neighbours phone.

Today, we pause to remember and honour Matt le Clerq, a much-loved member, friend, volunteer and part of the wider NSW SES and NSW SES Volunteers Association family. 🧡

The NSW SES Wyong Unit alongside Matthew’s family and Gorokan High School invites friends and members of the community to join us in honouring the life and service of Wyong Unit Commander Matt le Clercq.

Matt dedicated himself to serving the Central Coast community with compassion, humility, and unwavering commitment. His leadership, kindness and dedication to helping others touched countless lives, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations of NSW SES volunteers.

A public memorial service to celebrate Matt's life will be held:

We welcome those whose lives were touched by Matt to join us as we come together to remember and celebrate an extraordinary husband, dad, family man, volunteer, leader and friend.

📢The AusAlert national test - Monday 27 July 2026

ℹ️ AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

It will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches, we need to test the system across Australia.

On Monday 27 July, your mobile devices, such as mobile phones, tablets and smart watches, may receive a test alert.

The test times across Australian time zones are:
• 2:00 pm AEST (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS)
• 1:30 pm ACST (SA, NT, Broken Hill NSW)
• 12:00 pm AWST (WA)

The message will vibrate and include a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds.

If this could disrupt you or cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in your location, and leave them off for at least one hour.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything, but in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

Today, we stand alongside our colleagues and friends at NSW SES Wyong Unit as they mourn the heartbreaking loss of their Unit Commander, Matt le Clercq.

Matt's dedication to the NSW SES, his leadership, and his unwavering commitment to serving the Central Coast community left a lasting impact far beyond the walls of his own unit. As neighbouring units, Gosford and Wyong have worked closely together through countless incidents, training activities, and community events. Matt was someone many of our members had the privilege to serve alongside, and his loss will be deeply felt across the entire SES family.

Our thoughts are with Matt's family, friends, the members of Wyong SES, and everyone whose lives he touched during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, Matt. Thank you for your service, your leadership, and the legacy you leave behind. 🧡

It is with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our Unit Commander, Matt le Clercq.

Matt was an exceptional leader whose dedication, compassion, and tireless commitment to protecting our community inspired everyone around him.

❤️ Giving back to the community takes many forms.

Today, we're incredibly proud of the 12 members from Gosford SES Unit who rolled up their sleeves to donate blood and plasma as part of the Emergency Services Blood Drive.

Their generosity will help save lives and support patients across Australia. Many of our members are regular donors, continuing their commitment to helping others both on and off the job.

While every donation makes a difference, there is currently a particular need for plasma donations. Plasma is used to create life-saving treatments for people with immune disorders, burns, trauma injuries and many other serious medical conditions.

Thank you to our members for stepping up once again to serve the community - this time from the donor chair instead of a response vehicle.

Today we recognise and thank all first responders who dedicate their time to helping others when emergencies strike.

From storms and floods to rescues and community support, first responders are there when they're needed most.

To our fellow emergency service personnel and the volunteers of Gosford SES - thank you for your commitment, service and dedication to keeping our community safe.

🌧️ Gosford and Wyong SES have been kept busy across the Central Coast overnight and through today, responding to multiple (preventable) flood rescues and incidents as heavy rain impacts the region.

🚨 With more than 50mm of rain recorded across the Coast in just 24 hours, crews were called to assist motorists trapped by rising floodwaters and respond to over 130 other weather-related incidents since Wednesday.

🚗 Floodwater can rise quickly and is often deeper and faster flowing than it appears. Please don’t take unnecessary risks — if you come across a flooded road, stop, turn around and find another way.

👏 A huge thank you to all our SES volunteers and emergency services working through the challenging conditions to help keep our community safe.
