Esk State School

Esk State School Esk State School located in the township of Esk in the Somerset Regional Council area. Esk is the hub of a chain of lakes and dams in the Upper Brisbane Valley.

Esk State School is located in the Brisbane Valley approximately 65 kilometres north of Ipswich and 100 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, the capital of Queensland. Our school is co-educational providing a well-balanced education for students from Prep to Year 7. Our teaching program is based on the Australian Curriculum. Our students enjoy an instrumental music program, senior choir and a junior

choir. Our music program also boasts a full class set of acoustic guitars. We welcome and encourage your involvement in the school. My staff and I look forward to an opportunity to work alongside you, our parents and caregivers, as together we prepare our students for the challenges of the future.

As the sun sets on Country, we pause to reflect, remember, and honour the extraordinary legacy of Eddie Koiki Mabo.
A proud Torres Strait Islander man from Mer Island, Eddie Mabo was a fearless warrior for land rights and justice. His determination and courage led to the historic 1992 High Court decision that recognised the traditional land rights of Indigenous Australians, overturning the false doctrine of terra nullius.
On this Mabo Day, 3 June, we celebrate his enduring impact and the strength, pride, and resilience of First Nations peoples.
Let us come together to honour this momentous milestone in our shared history and continue to walk the path of truth, justice, and reconciliation.

Last week, our students spent time with Ms L exploring the meaning of gratitude and why it is such an important part of wellbeing. 😊

Together, they discussed what gratitude means, shared the things they are thankful for, and took time to reflect on the people, experiences, and opportunities that bring joy to their lives.

It was wonderful to see students thoughtfully considering what they appreciate and expressing gratitude for the many positive things around them. 💛

🎺🏆 Congratulations to the Esk Senior Band for achieving a GOLD award at Fanfair yesterday. Your hard work, dedication, and outstanding performance have made our school community incredibly proud.

💛 National Reconciliation Week 2026 💛

National Reconciliation Week will be recognised from 27 May to 3 June, with this year’s theme: “All In.” 🇦🇺

To show our support, we invite all students to wear yellow on Wednesday 27 May in recognition of National Reconciliation Week.

There is no gold coin donation required — we simply encourage everyone to join in and show their support for reconciliation and unity within our community. 💛
