A huge thank you to all of you who have assisted St John crews on call-outs during the month of March.
It has seen a wide variety of incidents, some very close calls and some great outcomes.
Of note, to the good people of the SES, who carried out a textbook retrieval/rescue on the Cape Le-Grande walking track. There is life in the Polaris yet…. How valuable they are! Bet you can’t wait for the new one to arrive. They received excellent support from the Park and Wildlife staff who located the patient and also assisted in the retrieval. Overall it was a 6 hour operation.
To the bystanders at Alexander Bay, who helped to rescue stricken swimmers and somehow avoid the worst outcome, you are true heroes. Without that large tinnie, the communication and muscle, that situation was minutes away from being a tragedy. Brett and Rory (amongst others), you are life savers.
To all those involved in these and so many more, without you and what you do, the chain is broken. The chain of events that shapes the outcome requires a lot of coordination and cooperation and can come apart at any stage. Thanks to you all, we have had some remarkable outcomes of late.
