The Seven Creeks at Strathbogie is nearing its peak from last nights rain. That water will make its way down to Euroa throughout the day and the Seven Creeks in Euroa will most likely peak above the minor flood level and below the moderate flood level.

Daytime chainsaw training with a view 🪚⛰️

Yesterday’s daytime training crew travelled to Upton Hill for chainsaw training.

One of our members lives in Upton Hill and normally drives almost an hour to come to Euroa SES for training so this time we switched it up and went to him. 👌

Chainsaw training 🪾🪚

Tonight’s training we covered hazard awareness, chainsaw safety, usage, and maintenance and also portable lighting.
All of our members got a chance to practice using the saws in a controlled and safe environment, with instruction and support from our trained and experienced members.

Did you know that our chainsaw operators all have a nationally recognised chainsaw certificate. 🥳Just another perk of being a local SES volunteer

The creek has risen higher than predicted. We have prepared sandbags and we will visit the houses that need it. At this stage we will not be opening up the unit for members of the public to collect sandbags.

The creek is slowing down and started to peak, therefore the risk will be reducing in the next few hours.

The Seven Creeks at Strathbogie is 1.93m and falling (peaked at 2.52m @ 4.15am)
The Seven Creeks at Poly Mcquinns is at 1.35m and falling (peaked at 1.72m @ 5.30am)
The Seven Creeks at Gall’s Gap Road is at 2.70m and falling (peaked at 3.50m @ 6.30am)
The Seven Creeks at Euroa is at 4.44m and rising

The Castle Creek at Telfords Bridge is at 1.33m and falling (peaked at 1.72m @ 7am)

We have checked Violet Town and the creek peaked overnight and is now falling.

You will see our vehicles driving around for the next few hours getting intel on the situation.

As always please don’t drive through floodwater

A significant amount of rain has fallen across the catchment with 129mm falling in Strathbogie North in the last 24 hours.

The Seven Creeks at Euroa is currently at 3.32m and rising. We are predicting the height to reach 4.3m after midday today.

At this height, properties in the area shouldn’t be impacted, roads however will be. The freeway and Euroa-Shepparton Road are already impacted but no road closures in place as yet.

Please remember to never drive through floodwater.

Our crews are out there logging any observations, attending to trees over roads and building damage call outs. At this stage we are not preparing sandbags.

As always stay safe and we will continue to update the community throughout the day as the situation changes.
