Thank you to the generous residents of our suburbs, I have restocked the Evatt Street Library and so far it hasn't been emptied in one go again πŸ“šπŸ‘

I have pointed a camera at it however, and it alerted me to this person loading the fridge/street library into his truck 🀯
We had words.

FWIW there is a motion sensor and alarm centred on the library itself. It sends a message to my phone (set to vibrate). Someone taking a book or walking past is one message and i ignore it.
The bloke taking the street library off the raised plinth on my front lawn, and putting it on his hoist as it made it's way to the truck bed, buzzed continuously, and I checked the camera.
The memory card overwrites every few days.
I'm hoping that the person who took all the books on two occasions, doesn't repeat that behaviour, but the sign saying take one book only is sufficient for them to be charged if they do, according to ACT police.

I have spoken with ACT Policing about the repeated book theft from the Evatt Street Library.
Their advice is to:
- Post a sign saying to take no more than two books.
- To install cameras.
- To call them if I see that further thefts have occurred and I have evidence. They will take action.

I'm not allowed to give the thieves a thrashing or break arms, and I probably shouldnt say that on a police phone line that is recorded πŸ€”

Until I have cameras and a sign up, there wont be any books placed in the street library. I apologise for this.

Also many thanks to Jenny and Helen, who delivered books, and the others that offered books (especially kids books). It will return!

But the person who took the previous books returned overnight and cleaned it out AGAIN πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
