We can't believe it's already Week 5!

Another busy week is ahead at EHS. Our Year 10 students will be hearing from Speak Up! Stay ChatTY, the Art Room will be open at lunchtime on Tuesday for staff and students to help kick off our 1000 Hearts community project for 2026 by sewing a heart, and we'll come together for a whole-school assembly focused on our CARE value of Acceptance.

Preparations are also underway for our Big Freeze - FightMND event on Thursday, with ice buckets available for pre-sale earlier in the week❄️💙

A reminder to families that Friday is a Student Free Day, leading into the June long weekend.

If you would like to support our FightMND fundraiser, you can make a donation via the link here: https://support.fightmnd.org.au/fundraisers/catherineyole/freeze-mnd-ehs-2026

Our Year 10s returned from camp this afternoon!

The group spent 3 days down south exploring Port Arthur. They kicked off night 1 with the ghost tour, with a perfectly moody night of misty rain and fog. Yesterday they explored the historic site during the day and the Remarkable Caves. They finished off today with a visit to MONA.

Thank you to the Year 10 teachers for making this trip and experience possible for our Year 10 students 💙

Our Year 9 students had a fantastic day at the Science and Engineering Challenge today! ⚙️💡

Working in teams, students tackled a range of real-world problem-solving activities with no set instructions, learning through collaboration, creativity, trial and error.

Throughout the day, students took part in challenges such as designing and constructing model bridges to survive the famous “Bridge Buster” weight test, strategically routing electricity through a model city in the *Power Grid* challenge, and designing, building and testing a *Mars Rover* vehicle.

The challenge provided a great opportunity for students to develop teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while also inspiring interest in future STEM pathways and careers 💙

A friendly reminder about our sign-in and sign-out procedures to help ensure student safety and wellbeing.

If students arrive late to school or need to leave early, they are required to sign in or out at the Main Office using the ticket kiosk. If a student has an appointment during the day or needs to leave early, parents/carers must contact the school office or provide a written note for the student to bring to the Administration Office in the morning. Students will then be issued with a pass to give to their teacher to notify them that they will be leaving early. Students will also need to collect a pass from the office if a parent/carer has contacted the school by phone.

If a student feels unwell during the day and needs to go home, they should let their teacher or Grade Leader know and then report to the Administration Office, where staff will contact home. As mobile phones are not permitted during school hours, students should not contact parents directly to arrange early collection. This process ensures students are signed out correctly and safely.

If parents/carers come to school to collect a student early, they are asked to come into the Administration Office to sign their child out, unless prior permission has already been provided.

This process is an important part of our duty of care, and we appreciate the support of families in following these procedures, which help us keep all students safe and accounted for throughout the school day 💙

Our Year 8 & 9 Ag students had a fantastic day at Hagley Farm School Agricultural Learning Centre today taking part in the Growing the Future program 🌱🪱🐄🐑

Throughout the day, students explored real-world agriculture and future career pathways through a range of hands-on experiences. They watched ewes being pregnancy scanned as part of livestock production systems, learnt about cattle management, with a focus on traceability technology, and took part in a drone spraying demo showcasing the growing role of ag-tech in modern farming.

Students also interacted with the Ag Logic weather data app, using real-time data to make farm management decisions and gain an insight into how technology and data are shaping the future of Ag.

A great day of learning, exploration and hands-on experiences for our students!
