- PRE EXERCISE MEDIA NOTIFICATION -

The Koriella Fire Brigade located at 10 Stoney Creek Rd FAWCETT VIC 3714, is to conduct its daytime training exercise “EX FIRE STORM 26” in the vicinity of Koriella VIC focusing on the employment of local and outer Melbourne Metropolitan CFA units as Strike Teams.

This will be a 5 Phase Operation.

Now’s the time District 12 and District 8 members to jump on board and to be a part of a 40 firefighting appliance deployment, exercising in Strike Teams in and around KORIELLA and FAWCETT Victoria.

Contact your Group Officers to let them know that your Brigade wants to participate before it’s too late. See you there…..

AusAlert national test

On Monday 27 July 2026, a test Critical Alert will be sent to all compatible mobile devices in Australia.

The alert will override 'silent' and 'do not disturb' device settings. It will appear like a system notification on screens and make a loud siren sound for 10 seconds.

Please be aware this is a test only. Please ensure that individuals who may be distressed by this are made aware ahead of time to minimise impact.

Motor vehicle Accident at Koriella this morning.
A car and truck collided at the intersection of Maroondah Hwy and Goulburn Valley Hwy Koriella closing the highway for a number of hours.

Three people were taken to hospital, two via HEMS and one by road.

Local Police from Mansfield Highway Patrol are investigating the collision on behalf of the Accident Investigation Team.

Traffic was being diverted via Cathkin aroundthd accident scene.

Murrindindi Beanie & Fibre Festival

It’s a beauty and also a big thank you to local Kevin who donated the dryer.. thanks.

Each year the Murrindindi Beanie & Fibre Festival has great pleasure in giving back to the community monies raised from our fabulous fibre event held on the fourth weekend in May. The MBFF is this Weekend 23rd -24th May. In the first image, the Murrindindi Beanie & Fibre Festival Committee Members Sue Wynn, Carolyn Weeks & Pam Petersen handed over a 10kg washing machine recently purchased from Country Tech Alexandra and donated it to the Koriella Fire Brigade after they put the call out to the community, following the fires within Murrindindi Shire earlier this year. A new national warning system called AusAlert will be used across Australia from October 2026.

AusAlert will be able to send warning messages to your mobile device as push notifications during:
• Natural hazards such as bushfires, floods, and tsunamis
• Public health emergencies
• Biosecurity incidents
• Security threats

Before the system is introduced, it will be tested.

In Victoria, a local test will happen in the Geelong suburbs of Highton and Belmont on Thursday 18 June at 2 pm, followed by a national test on Monday 27 July at 2 pm.

More about the tests and rollout of AusAlert will be shared on the VicEmergency page in the coming weeks.
