We’re back for another session of ‘Staff Spotlight’ to get to know the amazing people in and around the classrooms at Patricks Road State School.

Mrs DeVries 👀

Mrs DeVries is one of our Year 3 teachers. Her class 3B students describe her as “kind and someone who asks questions about us”.

☀️ What is your favourite thing about working with students? Seeing student’s ‘lightbulb’ moments when connections are made and they realise their potential and gain confidence in themselves.

☀️What subject do you love teaching most? Visual Art 🎨


☀️What is your favourite food or snack? Baskin Robbins ‘World Class Chocolate’ ice cream.

☀️If you could have any superpower, what would it be? To be able to talk to animals.

☀️What do you enjoy doing outside of school? Going for hikes in nature 🍃

☀️What was your favourite subject when you were at school? Ancient History

☀️Do you have any pets? Tell us about them! Not at the moment but I am a big supporter of chickens as pets!

☀️What is your favourite children’s book or author? Choosing one favourite feels impossible. Books have always felt like companions to me, and different stories seem to find you at exactly the right time in life.

☀️If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Northern France

☀️What is one thing you always keep on your desk in the classroom? Water bottle

🏆 That’s a wrap on senior Interschool Sport for another season! 🏆

Our students finished the season the same way they started it – showing outstanding teamwork, sportsmanship and behaviour both on and off the field.

A huge thank you to our dedicated teachers who generously gave their time to train teams, umpire games, organise equipment and coordinate all the behind-the-scenes details that make interschool sport possible.

As the weather cools, please take the time to CLEARLY NAME all jumpers (and clothing items) so that they can be returned if found.

❄️ Please also be reminded that school jumpers that are not purchased from the school uniform shop are to be plain navy with no hood.

❄️ Plain navy tracksuit pants can be worn in place of culottes or shorts or plain navy tights may be worn under culottes or dresses.

❄️ Leggins or footless tights are not part of our school uniform.
