For those in the South today, a reminder about the Total Fire Ban!
This post also contains helpful links for our region regarding fire danger ratings, weather, incidents and warnings, and road closures.

🔥🚫 A total fire ban has been declared for Southern Tasmania for today which means no fires are permitted in the open, including incinerators, burn-offs, campfires, fire pots, and wood-fuelled barbecues.

ℹ️ If you live in a bushfire prone area please review your bushfire survival plan now, and keep up-to-date on changing conditions as the warm weather progresses.

ℹ️ If you're away from home camping or enjoying the long weekend, make sure to check the warnings for the specific area that you're in, and make a plan for how to stay safe in the event of a bushfire.

📲 Anyone who sees a fire in the open is urged to report promptly to Triple Zero (000).

📌 Keep up-to-date with:
➡️ https://bushfire.tas.gov.au/ - for the fire danger rating in your area.
➡️ http://www.bom.gov.au/tas/warnings/ – for the latest weather forecast and warnings.
➡️ https://www.tasalert.com – for current warnings and advice.
➡️ https://www.police.tas.gov.au/community-alerts/ – for road closures.

The Tasmania Fire Service Volunteer Service Awards recognise the long-term commitment, dedication, and selflessness of local volunteer brigades.

Brigade members from Fingal Volunteer Fire Brigade were recognised alongside members from Avoca, Rossarden, Mathinna, St Marys volunteer fire brigade, Falmouth Fire Brigade, Scamander Fire Brigade, and St Helens Fire Brigade - Tasmania.

Congratulations to our award recipients pictured below, ranging from 5 years of service to 30 (+) years of service.
A special mention must also go out to members who could not join us in person: Thank you!

This evening provided us with the opportunity to recognise the unseen service for our community. These awards also provide an opportunity to share thanks to our families, who support our members at all hours of the day (and night!).
Please join us in celebrating the service of our members 🚒🔥

We would like to send our thanks to the hardworking Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania SES volunteers for their efforts over the past week.

Due to the hot, dry and windy conditions last week our volunteers were required to respond to over 100 incidents ranging from vegetation fires, including the Coles Bay fire to wind related damage including roof losses, trees down over property and vehicles, and clearing access to homes.

While the job isn’t over yet with the fires still burning, we want to thank everyone who has been involved. Your dedication and commitment to keeping our community safe it much appreciated.

Don't be alarmed if you notice an increased presence of emergency services in and around Avoca today.

We’re running a multi-agency training exercise to give our teams a chance to safely practice and refine their responses to real emergencies in realistic environments.

You might see TFS, SES and St John’s Ambulance trucks and vehicles moving around but there is no cause for alarm.

Thanks for your support everyone!
