Yarra Youth Services

Yarra Youth Services Yarra Youth Services offers a variety of activities and services for young people aged 12-25 years who live, work or study in the City of Yarra.

We run programs at lots of different places across Yarra like community centres, schools and parks. Many programs are held at the youth centre on Napier Street. To find out more visit www.yarracity.vic.gov.au/youngpeople

We want to work with young people to run fun programs where you can build your skills and meet new people. Some programs are about music, some sport, some art, and some are a little bit of everything. We can also give you information and support if you need it.

Yesterday our team headed out to the Northwest Local Government Area Youth Crime Forum alongside local government areas across the region 👥

We heard from some incredible speakers on Victorian crime prevention - diving into what’s driving youth crime, how we can better understand it, and most importantly, what we can all do together to make a real difference for young people in our communities. 💡

Always grateful for spaces that bring people together to have these important conversations. The work doesn’t stop here! 💪

Come 2 HALVES AS A WHOLE the opening night of our 2025/2026 Artists In Residence(AIR) exhibition to see the culmination of and celebrate our AIRS work during their residency.

There will be a performance by Aisyah Kirana at 6:30pm and music from DJ Skills participant LibertyB throughout the night. Read on for some words from the artists about the exhibition:

Live, LOL, Love is a critical exhibition that explores how resident artists from the Yarra Youth Centre - Aisyah Kirana, F3ral, Mas, and duo 2 Halves as A Whole - negotiate sincerity and performance within the white cube. Featuring a distillation of the artists' year-long practice and practise, each navigates what it costs to make art meaningfully (and playfully!) in subversion of institutional expectations.

A multidisciplinary body of work-including sculpture, assemblage, screen, and performance-reveals the friction between emotional labour and commercial demand, professional artifice and truth-telling, and the isolating pressures of artistic production versus the intrinsic desire for community.

Though their material approaches diverge, each artist cultivates an intimate rapport with viewers, appealing to personhood through aesthetic nostalgia and thematic play. Their works attend vulnerable, universal human experiences-sleeping, coming-of-age, performing the role of "adult," of "accomplished," and of "artist."
What emerges is a shared language of tenderness and self-reflection, giving the exhibition's title a wry openness that holds both earnestness and irony at once.
Live, LOL, Love traces the idiosyncratic, humorous, and heartfelt terrain where contemporary art is lived.

Opening Night: Friday June 19, 6PM - 8PM
Exhibition runs: 19 June - 5 July
Where: ACU Melbourne Gallery,
26 Brunswick St, Fitzroy, 3065
All welcome

A little late, but definitely worth sharing 💛

Earlier this year during Ramadan, we were proud to host our Iftar event at Yarra Youth Services, bringing together community members, young people, families, and friends to break fast together in a warm and welcoming space.

With over 80+ people coming through across the evening, it was a beautiful celebration of connection, culture, and community. A huge thank you to Marian for providing the incredible food that brought everyone together around the table 🥘🥄🥙

We’re grateful to everyone who attended and helped make the night so special. Eid Mubarak to all who celebrated 🌙✨
