On this day, one year ago, two of our colleagues were tragically killed in the line of duty.

Today, and every day, we remember Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart and the tragedy that occurred in Porepunkah on 26 August 2025.

We thank everyone for their support and solidarity on this difficult day.

🚗 WESTGATE HWP ROAD SAFETY CHECK 🚗

Today we targeted a local complaint about drivers dropping kids off by travelling the WRONG WAY down a one-way street.

In just 30 minutes, we spoke to 10 drivers, and wow… the excuses were almost as creative as the driving! 😂

We heard:
👉 “It’s my first time here.”
👉 “I’m running late.”

But the award for today’s best excuse goes to…

🏆 “My GPS told me to come down here.” 🤦‍♂️😂

Unfortunately, Google Maps isn’t responsible for your driving decisions, and we’re pretty sure they won’t be paying your fine either! 📱💸

But jokes aside, road safety is everyone’s responsibility.

🚸 Slow down around schools.
🚦 Follow the signs and road markings.
👀 Keep an eye out for children and pedestrians.
🛑 If your GPS tells you to do something illegal… maybe don’t?

Getting there a minute later is always better than not getting there at all.

Police have concern for Georgia’s welfare due to her age and the length of time she’s been missing.
It’s believed Georgia may have travelled to the Footscray or Werribee areas.

✅ Park in a garage or driveway where possible.
✅ Consider sensor lighting and CCTV at home.
✅ Park in well-lit areas when on the street.

Stolen number plates are often used to avoid identification while committing offences, which can leave vehicle owners dealing with unwanted fines and other complications.

Through our SafePL8 program, Victoria Police, SES and Neighbourhood Watch regularly attend community events to fit anti-theft screws and share practical advice on keeping your number plates secure.
