As part of the State Government’s Melbourne Airport Rail works there will be changes to traffic conditions near Tottenham Station.

Throughout September there will be changes to walking and bike paths and traffic conditions (including lane closures and stop-go traffic) on Rupert Street.

All the works, including removing track, installing fencing, and ground preparation are happening within the rail corridor. This is not Coucil land. We have been advised that where possible trees will be retained and new plantings will be relocated.

Learn more about these works at

Melbourne Airport Rail will take passengers from the airport to where they need to go.

Gimme 5 for safer bike riding

We’re asking the State Government to spend 5% of their transport budget on active transport infrastructure as part of the Gimme 5 campaign.

Council is one of nearly 30 bicycle user groups, councils, and grassroots organisations that support the Bicycle Network’s campaign to prioritise work on Strategic Cycling Corridors in our City and beyond.

Dedicating just 5% to Strategic Cycling Corridors would give our residents more choice on how they get to school, work, and the shops.

You can learn more about the corridors and the campaign by searching 'Gimme 5 for bikes'

Still scrambling for a last-minute Father’s Day gift? We’ve got a few ideas!

Grab Dad some tickets from the Sun Theatre, take him out for a meal in Seddon, Maribyrnong or Maidstone, pick up some cupcakes from Paolo in Braybrook, or let him choose his own treat at Slow Foodscray on Sunday.

Easy, local, and much better than another pair of socks 😉

We understand residents are frustrated about electricity infrastructure works in Yarraville, Tottenham and West Footscray. Council does not have the power to approve or refuse the infrastructure. We are raising concerns with Jemena and Zinfra and seeking better outcomes.

We know these works have been disruptive, and we understand the impact for our community. We’re disappointed with how some of this has unfolded. We’ll keep working for better outcomes for your neighbourhood.
Council may not have the power to require changes to the infrastructure. However, we are asking that this infrastructure be put underground.

H5 bird flu risk in pets is very low, but it’s still best to take precautions.

✅ Keep dogs on leads around wildlife
✅ Don’t let pets touch or eat dead animals
✅ Keep cats from roaming and hunting wildlife

These simple steps help protect pets, wildlife and our community.

Remember, if you see sick or deceased birds or wildlife:

🚫 Do not touch
📍 Record the location and what you observed
📞 Report it online or call 1800 675 888

We know our community cares about wildlife. Reporting sightings helps trained responders safely assess risks and monitor the spread of the disease.

For more information, visit: agriculture.vic.gov.au/birdflu

While the risk of H5 bird flu in pets is extremely low, it's best to take precautions.

If you're out walking your dog or spending time outdoors:

✅Keep dogs on a lead in areas with native wildlife
✅ Don't allow pets to investigate or eat dead animals
✅Stop cats from roaming and hunting wildlife

These simple actions help protect pets, wildlife and curbs the spread of disease.

If you suspect H5 bird flu in birds, mammals, poultry or other captive birds, report it immediately by calling the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888 or to DEECA online.
