πŸ”₯ Reminder: Always supervise your burn-offs πŸ”₯

Conditions across Tasmania remain dry, so it’s important to take extra care with any outdoor burning.

While Fire Permits are not currently required, people are encouraged to register burns in advance with Tasmania Fire Service by calling 1800 000 699.

Registering a burn will ensure your local brigade are aware of your plans should they need to respond, and you will prevent having a brigade turn up unnecessarily.

If you’re planning to burn:
β€’ Always have an adult in attendance until the fire is completely extinguished
β€’ Be prepared to manage the fire and monitor changing weather conditions
β€’ Have suitable, working firefighting equipment on hand
β€’ Never light fires in peat, humus or marram grass
β€’ Let your neighbours knowβ€”smoke can impact health and farming operations (especially vineyards)

Before you leave any fire:
πŸ‘‰ Soak it.
πŸ‘‰ Stir it.
πŸ‘‰ Soak it again.

Also think carefully when lighting campfires or using machinery, and double check that recent fires (including fire pits) are fully out.

⚠️ Remember: Landowners are responsible for any damage caused by fires that escape their property.
πŸ“ž If you see signs of a fire re-igniting (smoke or flames), call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

πŸ”₯ The 2025/26 Fire Permit Period will end statewide tomorrow (Thursday, 9 April 2026).

ℹ️ From 2am tomorrow, if you’re considering burning on your property:
🀝 you don’t require a fire permit
🀝 BUT we encourage you to register your burn by calling 1800 000 699. Registering your burn will ensure your local Tasmania Fire Service brigade are aware of your plans and can respond accordingly.

πŸ“ Remember:
➑️ Anyone conducting a burn must be capable of managing the fire and be mindful of changing weather conditions.
➑️ Make sure an adult is always attending the burn until it is fully extinguished.
➑️ Have suitable working firefighting equipment available to appropriately manage fire activity in the event that the fire begins to spread.
➑️ Never light fires in peat, humus, or marram grass.
➑️ Landowners are responsible for any damage caused by fires escaping their land.
➑️ Ensure your neighbours are aware and that your burn won’t adversely affect their health, or farming operations – particularly the wine industry, which is vulnerable to smoke.
➑️ Burning on private property is governed by local council by-laws and environmental laws about smoke emissions.

We had the absolute pleasure today helping out at the Deaf children Australia camp! The rain held off just long enough for the kids to have a turn on the hose and a look through the trucks! πŸ™‚
Big shout out to fire brigade for bringing one of their trucks over while ours is in for repairs πŸ‘Œ

Tasmania Fire Service has suspended the issuing of fire permits statewide as we prepare for high fire danger across the state this weekend.

From 2am today (Friday, 9 January) until 2am Monday 12 January:

‼️ No fire permits will be issued for burns during the period.
❌ Any fire permits already issued for fires during this period are cancelled as conditions will be unsafe for burning.
πŸ”₯ If you have burned in the last week, check your fire is fully extinguished.
πŸ”₯ Burns under 1 cubic metre which do not require a permit are strongly discouraged.
πŸ”₯ Anyone having a campfire and/or wood fire barbecue is urged to never leave it unattended.
‼️ Anyone operating equipment is urged to be vigilant to avoid any activity that may cause accidental ignition of vegetation during this suspension.

πŸ“²πŸš’ If you need emergency assistance, or you see fire or smoke in the landscape, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

πŸ”₯ Reminder: It’s fire abatement Season πŸ”₯

With warmer weather on the way, we’re reminding all landowners and occupiers to check their properties for potential fire hazards.

Now is the time to:

- Clear long grass, weeds and undergrowth
- Remove rubbish or flammable materials
- Check fence lines and paddocks
- Make sure firebreaks and access points are maintained

Keeping your property tidy helps protect you, your neighbours, and our wider community.

Council officers will be undertaking inspections over the coming weeks.

Thank you for doing your part to reduce fire risk this summer. Stay safe, Central Coast. πŸŒΎπŸš’
