Maheno, Fraser Island 2015 Commemoration:
The Maheno, washed onto 75 Mile Beach during a storm in 1935, was a New Zealand hospital ship at Gallipoli in WW1 - ANZAC Day

This shipwreck on Seventy Five Mile Beach at Fraser Island connects Australia and New Zealand with the ANZACS at Gallipoli.
100 years ago, the SS Maheno, named after a New Zealand town, was converted from a trans-Tasman passenger ship to WWI hospital ship, NZHS Hospital Ship No 1. Rotary Club of Brisbane Highrise, in conjunction with Fraser Island Retreat, is organising New Zealand students from M

aheno School to be part of the ceremony at the site on ANZAC Day, 25th April.
2015 also marks 80 years since the Maheno grounded on the beach on World Heritage listed Fraser Island and is visited by tens of thousands of tourists from around the world.
