Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade

Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade The Brigade is part of the Hawkesbury District of the NSW Rural Fire Service.

Officially formed in 1951, and for over 60 years since then, volunteer members of the Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade have dedicated themselves to the safety, prevention and protection of the Freemans Reach community and its surrounds. Made up of dedicated members from our community, the Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade assists residents during times of emergencies, particularly bush and grass

fires. On average, the Brigade can attend between 30 to 50 fire calls per year, including structural fires, motor vehicle accidents and smaller backyard fires. Of course, we also assist other services where required, including storm damage and flood operations. Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade is involved in numerous community activities including school and church fetes, various fundraising activities and RFS Get Ready Weekend campaigns. 🔥 Last 24 Hours with Freemans Reach RFB! 🔥

Yesterday, Breathing Apparatus crews from Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade and Tennyson Rural Fire Brigade were paged to assist with a going structure fire at Cattai.

Facing live electricity, major structural collapse, and the need for water relay pumping – Crews from NSW RFS & Fire + Rescue NSW handled it all with total professionalism and high safety focus.

Then this evening, while back at the station doing routine maintenance, our team jumped into action again – dispatching a tanker on loan to the brigade to support our mates at NSW RFS - Wilberforce Brigade with a tree down incident.

Just another day of incredible teamwork keeping our Hawkesbury community safe!

This is the kind of rewarding, high-impact work our volunteers do every single day. If stories like this fire you up and you want to be part of something bigger…

This evening we received a page of “unknown fire” in Freemans Reach. A column of black smoke was noticed en-route. The cause was found be an illegal pile burn comprising of building waste and plastics.

A second appliance was housed out of Freemans Reach across the last few days while the district was in heightend fire danger period. This was utilised by our crews to support Freemans Reach 1 with additional water while extinguishing the pile

# # # # TOBAN TOMORROW # # # #

An Extreme Fire Danger Rating is forecast for the Greater Sydney Region tomorrow, Saturday 10th of January.

A Total Fire Ban has been declared for the Greater Sydney Region effective tomorrow from 0001hrs to 2359hrs.

During a Total Fire Ban you cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open, or carry out any activity in the open that causes, or is likely to cause, a fire. A total fire ban helps limit the potential of fires starting.

Stay up to date on fires in your area using the Hazards Near Me App or by visiting the NSW RFS website.
