J Shed Art Studio J Shed Art Studio is an Artist Studio in Fremantle, Australia. The studio specialises in ceramic murals and it is run by Jenny Dawson.

Jenny Dawson is a ceramic artist, public artist, designer, teacher, consultant, project co-ordinator and bass player. Since 1993, Jenny has successfully worked as team leader or part of an artist’s team on 52 collaborations to produce art for public spaces. These commissions have come from Percent for Art Scheme (28), government and local government (18) interstate (1) and the private sector (5). The budgets have varied from $10,000 to $244,000.

James a student of pottery has purchased my precious Venco - Pottery Wheel to learn how to throw pots. It was the very first piece of machinery I took into J Shed Freo in 1993 after graduating art school and starting my ceramic art career at Unit 3 - J Shed. Sadly it is now the first piece of my equipment to now leave upon my termination (by City of Fremantle).

It was with heavy hearts that Peter Zuvela and I handed it over to a pottery lover who we hope will treasure it as much as we did.

Hello World! 👋 Peter and I are getting ready to move on from 33 years of art at J Shed Freo - Unit 3, Fremantle.

As it stands we will be closing the Fremantle art business (no relocation), however Peter intends to do his photography business into the future.

It is all now becoming part of J Shed Fremantle’s history and we hope the younger generations will assess what we have done is of worth. I hope they do.

We will archiving, selling, gifting so stay tuned. So for the record J Shed Art Studio - Unit 3 will cease to be on the 2/7/2027.

A lovely moment with the children of Subiaco Primary School attending the last day of install at Rupert Street Pocket Park with their teacher Sandra Thornett and principal Heather McNeil. Also present was Ivan Zuvela (artist tiler), Julian Croudace who designed the park. The work was handed over to Michelle Glasser and other officers from the City of Subiaco.
