The Rad Library

The Rad Library A mobile community library appearing weekly in Hyde Park, Perth (and in other places from time-to-time) It’s a great spot for picnicing. P.S.

Inspired by the amazing library at the short-lived ‘Charlie’s Galley’ social centre in North Perth, as well as by the Anarchist bookshops and libraries in Sydney and Melbourne………………. We present:
“THE RAD LIBRARY”

A mobile community library full of rad books, zines, DVDs, and games and operating out of a van in Perth, the library has been stocked with stuff bought by those involved, donated by fri

ends, or borrowed from mother’s bookshelves (with some significant donations made by a few kind folks). The library made its debut appearance at the Really Really Free Market at Hyde Park on Sunday 19 September, and because several people borrowed stuff, we’ve now committed to rocking up at the pagoda on the North side (Vincent St side) of the park, every Sunday between 12 and 5pm. So take advantage of the beautiful summer(ish) weather and come check it out! if you’ve got some books, zines or other resources that you think are rad, and that you’d like to donate, we’d love to share them from the library. Email [email protected] for more info or to donate. You can also contact us on 0431 268 423, or visit the facebook group (search for ‘the rad library’). Check out the ‘Our Rad Collection’ section to see all the fantastic books and DVDs that we’ve got!!

Had the library up on Friday arvo, was smack bang in the city under the glow of the cultural centre screen. Was easy taking it in on the train. Was a good spot. One guy thought it pretty funny we had our little thing going right near the right proper state library. People were really a-liking Raen's sign. Calum invented a stand for it with his skateboard. We chatted and debated and sewed and drew, was a good one. People are keen to put on more and on a regular time so we'll be setting up an organisational group on this facebook. Opt in opt out shake it all about whatever

Hi folks, The Rad Library has been sitting at our place for the last six months or so. Initially I had hoped to be able to be more involved and take on the project however I realistically do not have the time or energy for it at the moment. Is there anyone out there who would like to take it on, including storing it? Essentially it is two bookshelves, books and some folders/stands/trolly. There is also a small kitty, which I believe Gabriela has. Please comment here if you are interested in do this. Thanks, Ray.

Bought a removalist's trolley off gummo yesterday and gonna be rigging up an easily trasportable bookshelf in next couple of weeks. This'll probably involve fixing a bookshelf to the trolley and perhaps a foldable table and/or chair on its side/s and painting it.
Has anybody any paints, tools, supplies or light manual labour they can offer?

Anybody wanna help out with putting on the rad library? Been a bit of reshuffling with organising crew hence inactivity.

The RAD Library will be down at South Beach again this Saturday from 12.30pm til 4.30pm. Bring your drawing pads, books, colouring books and guitars and hang out with us while we chill out and read on South Beach. Again we will be on the northern end on the grassed area. See you there.
