A creative city is one where artists and creatives have opportunities to create, collaborate and share their ideas, supported by welcoming community networks and public spaces that encourage cultural expression.
This year's budget includes $4.6 million to support our creative community and deliver events, programs and initiatives that celebrate Walyalup/Fremantle’s unique cultural identity. It also supports the operation of key arts and culture venues as welcoming places for artistic expression, learning and exchange, creating opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to participate as artists, audiences, lifelong learners and community members.
By celebrating the diverse histories, cultures and stories that shape our community, while connecting people with contemporary creative practice, we strengthen social connection, foster a sense of belonging and build shared understanding. These investments help ensure that creativity continues to enrich community life, attract visitors, support local businesses, and contribute to a vibrant and inclusive city.
