A pleasure to speak at the Rockhampton Filipino-Australian community basketball awards ceremony at Bravus Mining and Resources basketball stadium.

This community sports association represents much more than basketball. It creates opportunities for people of different ages, backgrounds and experiences to come together through a shared passion. It builds friendships, strengthens families and provides a sense of belonging.

Their motto is "for the love of the game and community". An amazing local sporting association. Thanks RFABC Rockhampton Filipino-Australian Basketball Community

Stanwell State School celebrates its 150th Anniversary today. Congratulations to an amazing, friendly little state school in the Rockhampton region.

RRC Divisional Councillor Cherie Rutherford will officially open the proceedings at 2:00pm and the event concludes at 5pm today.

There is official merchandise to remember the occasion; markets, high teas, animal petting zoo and much more to do and see. It's worth the 15 minute drive from Rockhampton.

Rockhampton Regional Council is a major sponsor of this event.

Apprentices and Trainees Queensland have been delivering Certificate 1 courses with an overwhelming success rate of job placements exceeding 95% since starting many years ago.

Donna Kirkland MP gave an inspirational speech to further motivate these new learners who have taken the initiative to select a path to gainful and meaningful employment.

The "Skilling Queenslanders for Work" program is funded by the Queensland government. A great program delivered by great trainers.

I am excited for the new class and look forward to attending their graduation in 13 weeks time.

Another successful stint with assisting Advance Rockhampton at Qld Mining Expo (QME) in Mackay. Happy to promote Rockhampton Regional Council as a great place to live, visit and invest.

It was encouraging to see so many resource-aligned businesses asking about wanting to expand and grow their business into the Rockhampton region.

Congratulations to Bravus Mining and Resources for winning an award at the Qld Mining Awards for successfully implementing a food waste reduction program at their mining camps. Well done.

It was also great to see many people from Rockhampton region including Glen Kelly MP State Member for Mirani who came in for a chat.

Finally, a big shout out to Wade Clark and Amanda Hinton from Advance Rockhampton's Economic Development team who do an amazing job promoting our region for business to invest. Our great resources from RRC going above and beyond.

Relay for Life Patron RRC Deputy Mayor Drew Wickerson opened the start of an important community event that recognises the survivors and those loved ones lost to their battle with cancer.

A great turnout that will go through the whole night and finish tomorrow morning. See how many laps you can complete. A great fund-raiser each year to keep trying to find a cure.

The Melbourne Cup trophy arrived at Callaghan Park racecourse today. Valued at over $1 million and was very heavy from the 18ct gold used to make the trophy.

Guest presenter Mr Robert Hickmott was reminiscent of being a two-time winning trainer of the horse that won Australia's famous "race that stops a nation." He described that feeling as being "surreal".

It's great weather to head out to the races at Callaghan Park racecourse for the TAB Rockhampton Cup. Gates open 11:00am, first race 12:09pm. Main event is the $150,000 Rockhampton Cup at 3:49pm. Giddy-up.

New e-scooter rules come into effect today in Queensland. Come have a chat about this and other local issues.

It was a pleasure to extend warm greetings on behalf of Rockhampton Regional Council at the Philippines Independence Day Barrio Festival held at Bauhinia House, North Rockhampton.

It is a beautiful tradition that brings people together through family, food, culture and shared experiences.

I would like to congratulate the Central Queensland Filipino-Australian Association for organising this wonderful Barrio Festival. Events like this truly reflect the strength, vibrancy and unity of the Filipino spirit.
