The Crisafulli LNP Government's state budget yesterday was certainly a disappointment for Townsville and North Queensland.

What a contrast to the billions we received when we had a State Labor Government and all three Townsville State Seats with strong, effective local Labor Members. They really DELIVERED for our city with major state investment in economic and social infrastructure like the Stadium, Copper String, the port expansion, the $500million expansion for the Townsville University Hospital, completion of the Townsville Ring Road and Riverside Drive to name a few.

Pauline Hanson does not work for Australian battlers. She works to promote the interests of Australian and overseas billionaires.

Hanson left workers with no doubt about this reality at the National Press Club. She said Australian workers were lazy. She said that Industrial Relations laws, as they stand today, provide too much protection to them!

The bizarre banality of it all - the Puppet and her Puppeteer!

Some what ironic that Ms Reinhart is still eulogising Elon Musk and his disastrous, failed DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) experiment.

Musk vowed that the DOGE would operate with “maximum transparency” and that it would eliminate $2tn worth of waste and expose massive fraud. Today, Musk is out of the White House. DOGE only cut only a tiny fraction of the waste it promised but resulted in dozens of lawsuits alleging violations of privacy and transparency laws!

In his 2024 State Election Campaign, David Crisafulli pledged that there would be “no employment cuts to the public service workforce” and campaigned on a commitment of “no forced redundancies”. Now, the Crisafulli Government reverting back to the Newman Government's modus operandi.

More than a dozen public servants who help represent the state in child protection cases have been axed – just as the number of vulnerable kids entering the system continues to rise and the government faces mounting pressure to overhaul it.

The Courier-Mail confirmed last Friday that 14 legal staff in the office of the Director of Child Protection Litigation have been let go, despite recommendations from the Child Safety Commission of Inquiry proposing the very same office take on more responsibility and workload.

Harry Bruce nails it again in yesterday's Townsville Bulletin - desperation is as desperation does!

The Member for Herbert must be really spooked by the recent Redbridge Poll that suggested that the LNP could lose all its House of Representatives Seats in Queensland to One Nation.

That would be a very bad outcome for Townsville. We would end up with a grievance politician in Canberra making a lot of noise but incapable of delivering any federal government investment in Townsville.
