Transport Accident Commission (TAC)

Transport Accident Commission (TAC) We are working to get to zero deaths and serious injuries on our roads.

The TAC is a Victorian Government-owned organisation whose role is to promote road safety, support those who have been injured on our roads and help them get their lives back on track. Our vision is crystal clear — people’s life and health should never be the price we pay for using our roads.

Winter is here!

As we head into the King’s Birthday long weekend, we're asking everyone to take a little extra care on the roads.

Wetter and darker conditions can make even familiar trips more challenging.

If you’re heading away, plan ahead, take regular breaks, slow down and drive to the conditions.

A few simple choices help everyone get where they’re going safely.

We recently joined forces with Melbourne Victory Football Club for this year’s TAC All Abilities Gala, a celebration of inclusion across the football community.

Now in its fourth year, the event brought together Victorian All Abilities teams for a high-energy round robin tournament showcasing passion, teamwork and the power of accessible sport.

Our 20+ year partnership with Melbourne Victory helps us connect with fans, players and clubs to share important road safety messages.

As we recognise National Road Safety Week, Solace in Geelong stands as a powerful reminder of the lives impacted by road trauma and the importance of safer choices on our roads.
Located on Geelong’s waterfront, the memorial is a dedicated space for anyone affected by road trauma. It offers a quiet moment to acknowledge those who have lost their lives on our roads, support those living with life‑changing injuries, and recognise the families, friends and first responders who carry these impacts every day.
The memorial also serves as a public artwork, using seven stainless‑steel and stone segments shaped around the phases of the moon, a symbol of the changing emotions experienced through grief.

Last night, GMHBA Stadium lit up in yellow to recognise National Road Safety Week 💛

It’s a time to remember lives lost, support those impacted by road trauma, and commit to safer roads for everyone.

We’ll be lighting up again this Friday for Headlights Day 🚗

Don’t forget to switch your headlights on during the day as a simple show of support.

Every life matters. Every trip counts. Drive so others survive.

18/05/2026

This week is National Road Safety Week (17 - 24 May).

This year’s theme, Drive So Others Survive, highlights the shared responsibility we all have to protect one another on the road and reinforces the importance of making safer choices before and during every journey.

To mark the week, some of Victoria’s landmarks will be lit up in yellow in memory and support of people impacted by road trauma.

Please take extra care on the roads. Drive to the conditions, take a break on long drives and never drive drug or alcohol affected.
