🌿✨ Major works are now complete on the Green Spine Project - Block 3 on Malop Street 🚦

We are excited to share works on the Green Spine Project along Malop Street - Block 3 have come to fruition! This segment now boasts a range of enhancements, contributing to a more vibrant urban landscape.

🚴‍♂️ Both lanes of Malop Street are now operational alongside a dedicated bike lane, ensuring safety for cyclists.

🌉 Noteworthy additions include a newly constructed raised pedestrian crossing strategically positioned between Yarra and Bellerine Streets, facilitating pedestrian access and further enhancing the connectivity between businesses along north and south Malop Street.

🅿️ On the north side, enhancements have been introduced, including short-term parking bays, loading bays, 2-hour standard car parking bays, and accessible parking bays.

🌳 Block 3 continues the botanic walk seamlessly from Blocks 1 and 2 presenting a harmonious blend of native vegetation, thoughtful planting, and road rehabilitation.

🏢 Throughout the construction process, the local businesses along Malop Street have exhibited resilience, remaining operational. We would like to extend gratitude to the businesses and community for their patience over the past 6 months.

💼 The Green Spine Project is an integral component of the , a collaborative initiative between the Australian Government, Victorian Government, and the City of Greater Geelong. The Green Spine project forms a crucial part of the overarching strategy outlined in the Revitalising Central Geelong Action Plan.

Works 🚧 are continuing on the Malop Street Green Spine🍃at Block 3 south side from Yarra to Bellerine streets.

Businesses along Malop Street remain open and trading as usual.

Block 3 will see the continuation of the botanic walk 🍃 along the south side of Malop Street complemented by native vegetation and planting, a separated bike lane🚲for improved bike rider safety, and some rehabilitation works of the road.

This project is being delivered as part of the $500 million , a collaborative partnership to transform Geelong and the Great Ocean Road by the Australian Government and Victorian Government, and the City of Greater Geelong through the Revitalising Central Geelong Action Plan.

Work 🚧 is underway on Malop Street for Block 3 of the Green Spine🍃, between Yarra and Bellerine Streets.

The westbound traffic, bicycle and parking lanes, and the median parking bays will be closed throughout construction, between Yarra and Bellerine Streets. Detours➡️are in place for westbound vehicles.

During construction, businesses along Malop Street remain open ✅and trading as usual.

We expect this stage to be complete by January 2024 (subject to weather conditions) and thank everyone for their cooperation while construction is happening.

The Green Spine project is revitalising the central city. Block 3 continues the botanic walk along the south side of Malop Street, along with native vegetation and planting, and a separated bike lane for improved bike rider safety and rehabilitation of the road consistent with Block 2.

Green Spine Block 3 Update:

Powercor has commenced relocating their overhead services to underground along Malop Street.

During the relocation activities, businesses along Malop Street are trading as usual 🥘✅.

The westbound traffic lane, some parking bays and the bike lane will be temporarily closed while work is taking place in the immediate area. Bollards and traffic controllers will be onsite to help direct drivers, bike riders and pedestrians.

Keep an eye out for changed traffic conditions and allow an extra five minutes for your journey ⏰.

These works are preparing for construction 🚧 on Block 3 of the Green Spine 🌿🌿 project along Malop Street between Yarra and Bellerine Streets in Geelong.
