MILLER STREET ELECTRICAL & PAVING UPGRADE – WORKS UPDATE 🚧

Works on the Miller Street Power & Paving Upgrade are progressing, with works continuing through Sections 2 and 3.

Section 1 – Mitre 10: Complete.

Section 2 – Former SPAR building: 75% of trenching and conduit installation complete, with repaving underway.

Section 3 – Former SPAR building to GIL Library Hub Plaza: Trenching to commence mid-week, with repaving to progress before a temporary Goin’ to Gil Festival stand-down.

The current stage of works does not involve electrical cable installation and will not require power outages. Electrical works will occur at a later stage, with affected businesses notified directly by Essential Energy.

CURRENT QUOTATION - AGED CARE & DISABILITY BRANDING PROJECT

Council is seeking to develop a clear and recognisable brand for its Aged Care & Disability sector that brings together all its existing services.

The project will review the current service brands and recommend how they should work together and relate to GSC whilst clearly identifying and communicating each service what they deliver. This will include consideration of the brand name, key messages and visual identity.

Council wishes to advise of an Extraordinary Council Meeting that will be held this Tuesday, 1 September 2026.

A copy of the Business Paper will be available on Council’s website prior to the meeting.

GSC QUARTERLY UPDATE >> Q4 2025/26

Each quarter Council will share key highlights and deliverables from the Gilgandra Region Delivery Program and Operational Plan (DPOP).

Q4 2025/26 covers the period from 1 April 2026 to 30 June 2026.

The DPOP outlines the actions Council will deliver each year to support the Community Strategic Plan (CSP) 2035. Shaped by community consultation, the CSP is Council’s highest-level planning document and sets out the community’s vision, outcomes and priorities for the Region.

Some highlights and actions delivered in Q4 2025/26 include:

🌳 All Roads to Recovery projects have been completed for 2025/2026.
🌳 Funding deed approved and contracts signed for new Sewer Treatment Plant.
🌳 All Cooee Villas currently under contract with new units being considered.
🌳 Windmill Walk Stage 2 tender awarded and preliminary works commenced.
🌳 Procurement for the Masterplanning of Cooee Lodge has commenced.
🌳 Progress on the GRC has advanced to early design and investigation phase.
🌳 GSC and MPS were announced as the 2026 Building Healthier Communities Challenge Winner.

🌼 DAFFODIL DAY IN MILLER STREET PLAZA! 🌼

Our wonderful local ladies are set up at Miller Street Plaza today, raising funds for Daffodil Day and supporting an incredibly important cause. 💛

There are plenty of beautiful daffodils and Daffodil Day merchandise available, along with some delicious homemade treats - and they’re also running a raffle!

All money raised goes towards local cancer fundraisers, helping support people in our local community affected by cancer. 🌼💛

Why not pop down, grab a bunch of daffodils, enter the raffle, make a donation or simply stop by for a chat and show your support 🌼

A huge thank you to our local ladies for putting their time and effort into this wonderful fundraiser, and to everyone who continues to get behind local fundraising efforts. 💛

A breast screen is free, quick, no referral is needed, and it could save your life.

MILLER STREET POWER & PAVING UPGRADE – WORKS UPDATE 🚧

Council advises that works on the Miller Street Power & Paving Upgrade are progressing, with works now moving into section 2 of the project.

Section 1 (fronting Mitre 10)
• Trenching and conduit installation are complete.
• Repaving is mostly complete, pending final material delivery.

Section 2 (fronting the former SPAR building)
• Approximately 50% of trenching and conduit installation is complete.
• Repaving works have commenced.

The project involves relocating overhead electrical services underground and renewing approximately 670 metres of footpath paving along Miller Street. Works will continue progressively along the street.

Council thanks the community for its patience and cooperation while these works continue.

T24/26: Flood Damage Restoration Works to Six Road Crossing Structures

The tender seeks submissions for rectification works to reconstruct six drainage and crossing structures to their pre-damage condition.

Submissions close 11am Friday, 28 August 2026.
