For those that are not aware. Salvos Big Ben Boekholt, a dedicated member of the community, lost his family’s farm in recent fires, and now he’s trying to rebuild.
Ben is often seen working in the Salvos food truck at all hours of day and night making sure firefighters are well-fed.

A Harvest Vehicle Movement Ban (HVMB) has been declared from 9am to 6pm on Saturday 13 December.

Condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of South Australian firefighter Peter Curtis.

As we enter the high threat period, this is a sad reminder of the risks involved in firefighting.

Stay safe this Summer everyone.

A veteran South Australian firefighter who has died in the line of duty is being remembered as caring and considerate, and loved by all who knew him.

Wirrabara grandfather Peter Curtis was part of a National Parks and Wildlife Service Brigade strike team battling a scrub fire in Pinkawillinie Conservation Park near Kimba yesterday.

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Flags are flying at half-mast at fire stations across the state.

Don't forget, our Rangers will be commencing their routine firebreak inspections as of this Saturday, 1 November.

🚜 Owners and/or occupiers of land within the Shire of Gingin have a legal requirement under the Bush Fires Act 1954 to install and maintain their firebreaks from 1 November to 15 May every year.

📋 For more information on firebreak requirements, refer to your Firebreak Order & Bush Fire Information booklet that you would have received in your annual rates envelope.
