Did you know Lake Awoonga has designated exclusion zones, a 6-knot zone and a non-motorised watercraft area to help keep visitors safe and protect critical dam infrastructure?

The zones are clearly marked by yellow buoys, and whether you're fishing, boating, paddling or swimming, taking a few moments to understand the markers can help keep everyone safe on the water.

Before your next trip to the lake, take the time to read the information on the buoys and make sure your fishing mates know the rules too.

Temporary pedestrian route change on Goondoon Street:

GAWB will be undertaking necessary maintenance works on a section of the roof at 136 Goondoon Street, Gladstone Central from 31 August to 22 September 2026.

To keep everyone safe, a section of the pedestrian pathway along Goondoon Street will be temporarily redirected to the opposite side of the road.

Please follow all pedestrian signage and traffic management directions and take extra care when in the area.

Thank you for your patience as we undertake these improvements.

Works to the Riverston Bay Recreational Area will be in progress from Monday 31 August to Friday 4 September.

GAWB will be completing works to the sandstone wall at the Riverston Bay Recreation Area and as part of this, a small section of the picnic area including a shelter and section of footpath will be temporarily closed. All other areas along the foreshore and the rest of the recreation area will remain open and accessible during this time.

Please note barricading will remain in place for a couple of weeks following the works to protect newly laid grass while it establishes.

GAWB recently hosted a local high school student for a week of work experience at the Aquaculture Gladstone Hatchery, providing hands-on insight into careers in aquaculture and the wider business.

If you have children, grandchildren, relatives or friends interested in work experience opportunities, encourage them to speak with their school's work experience coordinator and visit gawb.org.gov.au

Having recently stepped into the role of Engineering Manager, Adam brings extensive project delivery experience and a passion for tackling complex infrastructure challenges.
