For the rest of May the Gallipoli Place flag poles will carry the banners symbolising the issue of domestic violence and the work of the local committee in supporting those in need and educating people about the issues in their community. Its the first time vertical flags have been flown from this site and special adjustments to hanging the flags were required to make it happen. There will be a number of activities throughout this Month and people are invited to participate. Contact the local Police Station.

While our Annual charity golf day has come and gone for this year, there are still some little jobs to complete. Yesterday, as the community started to gather to reflect and remember at the Dawn Service for Anzac Day, the Rotary Club of South Gladstone was already up and moving.

From around 4:30am, the boys were on the tools, spatulas in hand, cooking a well-earned breakfast for the RSL at the Gladstone Bowls Club for those attending from the Dawn Service. It’s a simple act, but one that speaks to the same values we honour on the day, service, mateship, and showing up for your community.

We pause to remember the courage and sacrifice of our Anzacs, those who served, those who gave, and the legacy they’ve left behind.

A big thank you to everyone who put in the early start, and to Young Veterans Central Queensland for the BBQ. Efforts like this don’t always get the spotlight, but they matter.

Lest we forget.
