🔥 Bush Fire Danger Period Commences Today 🔥

The Bush Fire Danger Period is now in effect across the Kempsey and Nambucca Local Government Areas. As we move into spring and warmer conditions begin to develop, now is the time to prepare your home, property and family for the bush fire season ahead.

Being prepared doesn't have to be complicated. Simple actions such as clearing leaves from gutters, mowing long grass, removing flammable materials from around your home and making sure hoses can reach all sides of your property can make a real difference if a fire occurs.

Have a conversation with your family and make sure everyone knows what they will do if a bush fire threatens. If you haven't already, take the time to create or review your Bush Fire Survival Plan.

Remember, from today a Fire Permit is required before lighting fires in the open during the Bush Fire Danger Period, including for hazard reduction burning. Residents must also notify neighbours and local fire authorities at least 24 hours before lighting up.

For information about permits, preparing your property and developing a Bush Fire Survival Plan, visit www.rfs.nsw.gov.au.

Together, we can all play our part in making the Lower North Coast safer this fire season. 🚒
