A Night of Appreciation!

What a fantastic night celebrating the incredible sponsors and beneficiaries who make the work of Rotary Gladstone Sunrise possible.
Our evening was a chance to reflect on the impact we’ve been able to make together and behind every dollar raised is a sponsor, supporter, volunteer and community member who has helped make it happen.

Throughout the 2025–2026 Rotary year, $59,233.29 has been donated to our local community and Rotary projects, supporting organisations and causes both here in Gladstone and further afield.
From supporting Ronald McDonald House SEQ with two Heart of Our Home rooms, to community organisations, local projects, cancer care, youth initiatives, Bikes to Wheelchairs and Rotary’s global projects the impact is only possible because of the incredible people and businesses who continue to support us.

A huge thank you to our sponsors and supporters. Your generosity allows our members to turn fundraising into real, tangible impact, and we are ďżźincredibly grateful to have you alongside us.

And of course, our Club Services Director Hayley gave us a little taste of what’s coming for this year’s Melbourne Cup… 👀 We can’t reveal too much just yet, but let’s just say you’re going to want to be there!

Thank you for believing in what we do and helping us make a real difference.

Making a difference: Yr 12 QCIA Students join Gladstone Sunrise
Rotary Wheelchair Project.

Our Year 12 QCIA students recently had an incredible opportunity to work alongside Gladstone Sunrise Rotary as part of a very special wheelchair project supporting children living in underprivileged countries.

After being invited by Graeme Bartlett, our students were challenged to help create and design bright, colourful wheelchairs that would bring both practical support and a sense of joy to children receiving them. What began as a design activity quickly became an unforgettable hands-on learning experience!

The experience went far beyond simply designing wheelchairs. Our students were given the experience of a lifetime, joining the Rotary team to help finish and assemble the wheelchairs. They worked alongside the Rotary members assembling the steel bases, wheels and seats, preparing the wheelchairs for shipment to their designated countries.

For our students, this was an invaluable hands-on learning experience. This provided our students with invaluable practical experience, allowing them to use a range of tools, develop new skills and gain an understanding of how their efforts can positively impact the lives of others and learnt about the importance of teamwork, communication and giving back to others.

Most importantly, the workshop was filled with conversations, laughter, learning and plenty of teamwork. Our students thoroughly enjoyed working alongside the Rotary members, asking questions, sharing ideas and learning from their expertise. It was fantastic to see our students confidently getting involved, developing practical skills and building positive connections within our local community, while learning skills that can be transferred into future employment and life beyond school.

A very special thank you to Graeme Bartlett, Greg Klease, Robin Jones, John Todd and Wal Roobottom for welcoming our students, sharing their knowledge and providing such a meaningful experience.

Our Year 12 QCIA students certainly made the most of this opportunity—and judging by their smiles and enthusiasm. We are incredibly proud of our students and the contribution they made to such a worthwhile project. What an amazing experience, and what a fantastic example of learning, community connection and making a difference!

Let’s do it again!

Rotary Gladstone Sunrise was proud to support Chaplain Watch at their Night Watch Sponsors Night tonight.

A huge congratulations to Emma Smith, who was recognised as Volunteer of the Year so very well deserved!

These incredible volunteers start their shifts at 11.30pm and finish at 3.30am… otherwise known as the hours when the rest of us are very comfortably tucked up in bed! 😂

While we’re sleeping, Chaplain Watch volunteers are out on the streets, supporting people when they need it most offering a listening ear, a helping hand and a safe, caring presence to those who may be vulnerable or doing it tough.
Their commitment, compassion and willingness to give up their weekends (and their sleep!) makes such a difference in our community. ChaplainWatch
