Glamorgan Vale Water Board

Glamorgan Vale Water Board GVWB acts as a not for profit organisation. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS? CONTACT THE OFFICE ON 0754 266 800 FOR MORE INFORMATION. What is rural Water?

The Glamorgan Vale Water Board is a statutory body operating under the provisions of the Water Act 2000 and the Water (Services and Reliability) Act 2008 and their associated subordinate legislation. Who can be charged for Rural Water from the Glamorgan Vale Water Board? By Section 572 of the Water Act 2000 the Glamorgan Vale Water Board (The Board) may make and levy rates and charges in respect o

f any land within the GVWB Water Supply Area Plan AAP22179 (Area) which is subject to rating under that Act. This plan includes the areas of Fernvale, Vernor, Glamorgan Vale, Fairney View, Borallon, Wanora, Marburg, Haigslea and Lark Hill. A copy of the Area is available at our office at 694 Glamorgan Vale Rd Glamorgan Vale. All properties within the Area can be charged for an allocation of rural water. Rural water is unfiltered River Water pumped directly from the Brisbane River into GVWB Tanks and delivered through our pipeline infrastructure by gravity to properties serviced by GVWB. Rural Water is not for human consumption. How is revenue raised by the Glamorgan Vale Water Board used? The Board acts as a Not for Profit Organisation. All revenue is used to manage and maintain the assets of the Glamorgan Vale Water Board ensuring that the Board can deliver reliable rural water to the properties within the Water Supply Area Plan AAP 22179. How often do I receive an invoice? Meters are read twice a year in December and June. You are invoiced twice a year in January and July. Your water allocation is paid in advance and any excess used in the previous period is included in your next invoice. How do we calculate how much to charge? All properties within the GVWB Water Supply Area Plan (Area) are subject to a rating. The board fixes a rate per hectare which is applied to all land contained in the Area. This rate is reviewed annually and is calculated to meet the financial requirements of your Not for Profit Category 2 Water Authority. The Glamorgan Vale Water Board uses an allocation method. Each property is allotted an allocation of water based on the area of land, the land usage and the number of tenements (council approved dwelling) on the property. Properties that are unconnected to GVWB infrastructure and not specifically exempted by GVWB Policy will be charged at 75% of the Connected Rate. For a detailed explanation on how we calculate the charges on your water assessment notice please contact the office on 0754 266 800. How much water do I get? The allocation of water is based on the number of hectares and the number of tenements (Dwellings recognized by the local Council) on your property. For example a connected property of 6 hectares and 1 tenement would receive an allocation of 6 kilo litres per hectare plus 294 kilo litres per tenement. A total annual allocation of 330 kilo litres charged at the rate set annually by the Rate Resolution. Phone the office for a more detailed explanation. Where does the Rural Water come from? GVWB Rural water is pumped from the Brisbane River at Vernor and Wanora and is delivered to our 6 Reservoir Sites. Water is delivered to you through a system of gravity fed pipelines of varying sizes and lengths depending on your location. Rural water is unfiltered River Water and is not for Human Consumption. Pumps as a rule operate over night except on weekends to take advantage of lower electricity tariffs. Some areas will have higher pressure when pumps are operating. Why is my rural water discoloured? Rural water is sourced from the Brisbane River. The water is not treated or filtered. If there has been recent rain the water may be discoloured. From time to time there may be odours in your rural water. Odour may be the result of stagnant water in the pipework as a result of low usage. Rural water is to be used for limited domestic use, gardens and livestock. Remember, rural water is pumped directly from the Brisbane River. Rural water is unfiltered and untreated. The board will meet to review the decision within 20 days and send you a Response to Application for an Internal Review of an Original Decision within 30 days of their review. If you are not satisfied with this response you can present your case to the Land Court (Section 878 of the Water Act 2000). I recommend that you familiarise yourself with the Water Act 2000 legislation regarding decisions made by the Board and be guided by this legislation and its requirements.
