About ten years ago, GMAN was involved with OSCAR and SCEC in presenting public meetings protesting against Stockland's application to develop Halls Creek.

At the time, Mayor Jaimeson on behalf of Council publicly insisted that this would not be supported. He supported the inter urban break.

The State Government has now stepped in and declared Halls Creek to be a Priority Development Area. Our current Mayor and Council have been silent on the issue.

Are we as a community, really in favour of sacrificing the inter urban break? Do we want to become the next Gold Coast? What implications does this have on Pumicestone Passage?

The Queensland government declares the Halls Creek development a priority development area. The project is expected to deliver 12,000 new homes.

A really worthwhile workshop to attend

🍋🍎Most of us would have come across grafted fruit trees at some point, but have you ever thought about grafting native plants? 🌳🪵

The same principles apply to both fruit trees and natives. In very basic terms, grafting is the process of joining two different plants together (one upper and one lower) to combine desirable attributes (flower/ fruit/ form) with a strong disease resistant root system.

Would you like to learn more about grafting native plants and the techniques used? MRL is holding a workshop on Sat 9th May in conjunction with Native Plants Queensland focused purely on grafting! Our presenters - Jan Glazbrook and Dennis Cox have been members of NPQ for more than 40 years. They have run their own wholesale nursery, specialising in grafted plants mainly grevilleas but also Eremophilas, Brachychitons and the Myrtaceae family.

Police say emergency services were called to the Glass House Mountains following reports a hiker had heard someone calling for help.

This is very unusual. Walruses have appeared on the beach at North Bribie Island.

OMG 😳 this morning Buzz couldn't believe it lenses doing an early run to the southern end of the work site low and behold there were two what appeared to be "Walruses" on the beach !!!
Buzz was low on battery after a run down the beach and by the time we changed batteries and went back for a second look they weren't to be found.
Keep an eye out for these big boys I am sure they will surface again 💯👌😀

The GMAN native plant sale at last Saturday's Neighbour's Day event at the Glass House Community Hall. Cliff is seen here chatting with Ron Gillinder about the Bird Wing Butterfly Vine and our other native plants. Jackie and Lois looking on attentively. Native plants are for sale on our potting days, each Monday 8am to 9.30am. Prices range from $2 to $5 and even cheaper if buying several.
