Well, what a fabulous weekend at Glen Alice!! 15 new firefighters for the valley!
15 residents put their hand up and started their volunteer journey this weekend with the foundation course in firefighting. This is the first level of training required to turn out on our appliances to fight fires. Congratulations to you all. It was a very detailed and challenging couple of days but you all got through!! Thanks to all the Glen Alice brigade members who put aside the weekend to support our newest members. Special shout out to Alex, Patrick, Mark, Stu Knox and Ian. Special shout out to Captain Derek and Secretary Floydee and as always the best morning tea in NSW by Jan and Lissanne. Another special thanks to our Group Officer Chris Sharp for all his support and the assessors from as far away as Oberon. Thank you!
15 new firefighters means that we have even more capacity to respond to emergency situations in our area and throughout the district and state. Well done all!!

πŸš’ What an exciting day for Glen Alice! πŸš’

Glen Alice Bushfire Brigade has officially received a brand new Category 1 tanker, and we couldn’t be more grateful. This state-of-the-art appliance will significantly strengthen our response capability and help our volunteers better protect the Glen Alice community when it matters most.

A huge thank you to our District Office for their ongoing support and investment in volunteer firefighting.

⚠️ Lightning Storm – Property Check Reminder ⚠️

Glen Alice Rural Fire Brigade attended a tree alight and a large tree across Glen Alice Rd after last night’s storm. While rain fell in some areas, lightning may have struck where little or no rain occurred.

Property owners are urged to check their land, especially trees and wooded areas, for any signs of fire or smouldering damage. Tree fires can burn internally and may not be immediately visible.

With hot and windy conditions expected later this week, early detection is critical.

If you see smoke or an unattended fire, call 000 immediately.

Stay safe and vigilant!

With more than 43,000 lightning strikes recorded in the past four hours alone, there’s a real potential for new fires to start in the coming days.
While rain has fallen across many areas affected by the storms, some lightning may have occurred on the edges of these systems where little to no rain was received.
Property owners are encouraged to check their properties for any new fire starts, especially with very hot and windy weather expected toward the end of next week.

Glen Alice Brigade had a very busy day yesterday with multiple lightning strikes igniting bushfires in the valley. Glen Alice worked on a fire between Port Macquarie and Genowlan roads. Access proved difficult but members were able to get to the fire and start work supported by a NPWS helicopter. Crews worked intil midnight to contain the fire. The fire will be patrolled today but is believed to be contained at the moment.

πŸ”₯ Operational Readiness Day – Glen Alice Brigade πŸ”₯

What a fantastic day of training at Glen Alice today! πŸ’ͺ Our Operational Readiness Day was all about making sure our skills (and our gear!) are in top shape for what could be a challenging fire season ahead.

A huge shout-out to the 20 dedicated volunteers who spent the morning running emergency drills, brushing up on firefighting techniques, and proving once again that teamwork makes the dream work. πŸš’πŸ’¨

And of course… the real MVPs of the day were Jan and Floydee with their legendary feed! πŸ”πŸ”₯ You two kept the crew powered up and smiling.

Thanks to everyone who came along β€” the turnout, energy, and good vibes made it one of our best training days yet. πŸ‘β€οΈ

🚨 Glen Alice Brigade AGM & Long Service Awards πŸš’
Yesterday, Glen Alice Brigade held its Annual General Meeting at the Community Hall. All field officer and executive roles were successfully filled, with Derek Larsen reappointed as Captain for another year of leadership.

It was a fantastic turnout, made even more special by a long service medal presentation. In total, medals representing 440 years of combined service were awarded to our dedicated members β€” including a remarkable 50-year medal for former Captain Bruce Richardson.

A huge congratulations and thank you to all our medal recipients and volunteers. Your commitment keeps our community safe. πŸ‘πŸ”₯πŸ’ͺ

Great turn out for today’s training at Glen Davis. Members refreshed their knowledge of using standpipes to access water. We are lucky to have such dedicated members like Jason Grimshaw and his family who look after many of the hydrants in the village. Top work team!!
