Glen Aplin State School Prep Open Day

Glen Aplin State School is holding its first Prep Open Day for 2026 on Friday 5 June at 9:15am.

Come along and join in this term’s classroom learning with our insect and bug-themed morning. Meet Mrs Beecham and Miss Kimmins, explore our beautiful little school, and enjoy a fun-filled morning of curiosity, connection and learning.

Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 spend time everyday practicing their reading fluency. They spend 2 minutes reading to themselves, 2 minutes reading to their buddy and then 2 minutes listening to their buddy read to them. Each student has texts based on their personal interests created by AI. The AI generates a variety of text types, such as narratives, poetry and information texts based on their interests.

The students have said that they love that the texts are based on their interests, that they get to learn about their friends interests and they love listening to their friends read. They have also noticed that their reading has improved. They are certainly engaged and enjoying their reading!
