“You don’t truly understand how powerful the foundation is until you’re there experiencing it firsthand. Even after just one day, it’s clear the impact it has. We’ll be proudly getting behind the cause and volunteering for the entire week in 2027” Andrew Ferguson on the 2026 Tour De Horse

Bell River Graduate Extreme Choice yesterday set a new peak in Australian breeding history with a record setting fee of $385,000.

Despite his fertility issues, he is globally recognised as one of the most elite stallions we’ve ever seen in the thoroughbred industry where his record breaking fee is a reflection of performance not hype.

For Andrew Ferguson, it’s the culmination of a journey that started far from the winner’s circle converting from his Fairfield Grange Merino Sheep Stud at Trangie to Bell River Thoroughbreds out at Wellington and now Dungog, learning the game from the ground up and daring to believe a small farm could produce something extraordinary.

“To think about all those years ago when we made the switch from sheep to thoroughbreds… to breed a horse like this, you pinch yourself, you pinch yourself every time you hear about him, every time you see his progeny in the sale ring, winning elite races and even a poster of him where the BR brand sits that he’ll always carry which is truly an honour”

Well it was quite the journey to get here with the walker breaking down along the way but we dug deep, adapted and managed to pull it off.

The 2026 Inglis Premier Sale proved to be an outstanding result for our team, highlighted by securing the Book 1 Vendors Average Title with four horses selling at an exceptional average of $301,250. It was truly a sale to remember.

Day 2 saw Lot 323, the Home Affairs x Seven Sonnets c**t realise $200,000.

And our only Book 2 offering, the Brazen Beau x Ceilidh filly sold for $150,000 bringing our overall average across both books to a strong $271,000 for x5 horses.

A special mention must go to the Liston family at for their incredible support accommodating and welcoming us with open arms during the final week of preparation to put the finishing touches on the yearlings. It wouldn’t have been possible without your generosity.

And last but not least, James’ wife Mary for helping him pull the walker for over 18km’s.

Watch for love as James had to call in the big guns when the walker broke down. And yes, in case you’re wondering… they’re still happily married.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Three Bridges family for welcoming us and allowing us to base and finalise the Melbourne team’s preparation during the final week of their prep with James on the ground in Victoria.
