Lettuce Pray Lettuce Pray is a part of van Gent ministries, giving devotions in a simple weekly format... and they are brief. Lettuce Pray is written by Jacob van Gent. AMEN

It provides a short daily devotional based on the lectionary readings for the coming Sunday. It is especially meant for those who cannot attend Church or don't have the time to read the longer devotions. Also there are Meditations based on Bible Passages (coming soon). A Prayer for Everyday:

Every day I need you, Lord, but this day specially. I need some extra strength to face whatever is to be



This day more than any other day I need to feel You near me - to strengthen my courage and overcome my fear. By myself I cannot meet the challenge of the hour. There are times when people need a higher Power - to help them endure what is to be. And so, Dear Lord, I pray, hold onto my trembling hand and be with me today.

Monday 25th May 2026. Read Psalm 8:1-4. What is Man or Woman? In comparison to God we are mere mortal beings inhabiting God's creation. And yet, God loves each and every one of us. God is present in His creation in every way possible so that he can care for His mere mortals. Look around you and see the greatness of our Lord, our God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Tuesday 26th May 2026. Read Psalm 8:5-9. Typical of the Hebrew way of putting things the negative infers the positive - We are inferior only to God implies that we are superior to all others living things. We were appointed by God to rule over His creation. We haven't done a good job really. However things can improve. It is up to us to help others realise their responsibility in looking after the creation that God has given them.

Wednesday 27th May 2026. Read Genesis 1:1-19. We are up to day four of God's creation. We have night and day, the sky, earth, sea, plants, fruit, time, sun, and the moon. What more could He make. Look around you and marvel at what God the Father has made. Just the things of the first four days.

Thursday 28th May 2026. Read Genesis 1:20-31. Now we have animals, birds, fish, and finally the just to top it off, God made humans - man and woman. God blessed them and their offspring, which he commanded them to "Go forth and multiply" or "have many children". He gave them all they could want and more. Shelter, warmth, protection, food, and more. Thank God for providing all you need.

Friday 29th May 2026. Read Genesis 2:1-4. Many people work five days a week and then work on the weekends. They never seem to stop. The world as it is now is just rush, rush, rush. Now wonder there are things like road rage, shopping rage, all kinds of rage. Even God, the Almighty, had to rest. Keep a day in every seven as your rest day. Learn to relax and enjoy what God has given to you. Slow down and have a rest as God has commanded.

Saturday 30th May 2026. Read Matthew 28:16-20. I don't know how many times we have heard the command to go and make disciples baptising them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. However, have a look at the last sentence. We sometimes forget that Jesus Christ will be with us always. We can rely on Him.

Sunday 31st May 2026. Trinity Sunday. Read 2 Corinthians 13-11-13. As the superior beings in God's creation we are commanded to live together and work together in peace and harmony. God has given us the perfect way to live, this starts with following His example. There is a time for work and a time for rest.
How better can we, I, strive to live as God wants us, me, too.

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Tuesday 20th January 2026. Read Psalm 27:1, 4-6. In Jesus Christ, we have no fear. Follow Him. Read verse Ps. 27:1 again. What does this mean for you?
Wednesday 21st January 2026. Read Psalm 27:1, 7-9. Call out to the Lord, seek to see His face. The Lord will not reject you. His Son is proof of that. Read Ps.27:1 again.
Thursday 22nd January 2026. Read 1 Corinthians 1:10-18. Let us all be united in whom we proclaim. Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour of ALL. Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God. There is Power is His name.
Friday 23rd January 2026. Read Matthew 4:12-17. The Prophecy is fulfilled. Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Promised one, the Saviour of the world. “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
Saturday 24th January 2026. Read Matthew 4:18-23. Put your own name here. “……….. come follow me” says Jesus Christ. Go and tell others of the Good News of the Kingdom of God. Tell them about Jesus.
Sunday 25th January 2026. Read Psalm 27:1. What does this passage mean to you? Thank you Lord.
The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 NIV

Monday 5th January 2026. Read Isaiah 60:1-6*. “Lift up your eyes and look about you:” vs4. Now is a good time to look around and inside to find how better we can be servants of Jesus Christ.

Tuesday 6th January 2026. Read Matthew 2:1-12*. Bow down and worship the Anointed one, Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Bring your whole self to Him and allow Him to transform you.

Wednesday 7th January 2026. Read Ephesians 3:1-12*. God’s grace may seem a mystery to many, but it is revealed in His Son Jesus Christ. Live a life of grace through the Grace of Jesus Christ. It is for ALL people.

Thursday 8th January 2026. Read Isaiah 42:1-9. Christ already revealed in the time of Isaiah. The Gospel is open to All people through the anointed on, Jesus Christ. God is creator and sustainer of the world.

Friday 9th January 2026. Read Psalm 29. Listen! Can you hear the voice of the Lord. Listen! You will hear Him.

Saturday 10th January 2026. Read Acts 10:34-43. We are reminded again, that Jesus Christ is the one appointed to judge ALL the people of this world. He did this by dying for the sins of mankind and freely giving forgiveness to those who chose to accept and follow Him.

Sunday 11th January 2026. Read Matthew 3:13-17. “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Jesus Christ, the Son of God, anointed and Batised to go and save the world. Let His grace shine in and through your life, so that ALL may believe in Him.

Christmas 2 Naming of Jesus # Year A © Jacob van Gent 2025

Monday 29th December 2025. Read Jeremiah 31:7-14. Let us spend today rejoicing in what the Lord has given us, His Son. Let us proclaim His grace to all. Let us be patient, as God is, with ourselves, those around us and with God as we wait for His Kingdom to once again come.

Tuesday 30th December 2015. Read Psalm 147:12-20. Look back over 2019 and reflect on the times when you knew God was with you. Now remember that God is always with you and look back to recall the times when you were not aware of His grace and love on your life.

Wednesday 31st December 2025. Read Galatians 4:4-7 #. There is something about this reading that really touches me. I am an heir to the Kingdom of God. I have been given the Holy Spirit into my heart who cries out "Abba, Father!' God is the perfect Father, full of grace. He has sent His perfect Son to live and die for us. Reflect on this for a while and allow it to sink in.

Thursday 1st January 2026. Read Luke 2:15-21. I wonder what The Shepherds would have done in this day and age. Facebook their experience, text someone, travel to see Mary and her Baby and again Facebook or Instagram what they saw. Certainly, they were in awe of what they experienced as we should be. Spread the word, Jesus has come to save humankind.

Friday 2nd January 2026. Read Matthew 25:31-46 #. Sheep follow and stick together. Goats Butt. Are you a follower of the Lord or do you go around saying "Yes, But".

Saturday 3rd January 2026. Read Revelation 21:1-6a #. What a wonderful promise for the new year. Renewal is what the Gospel message is. Renewal in our way of living without a promise, without a hope, without grace. In contrast we, through Jesus Christ, have the promise of new life forever, a great and wonderful hope, and the grace of God.

Sunday 4th January 2026. Read Luke 2:15-21. Let the Year of 2026 the year to spread the Word to everyone about Jesus Christ, the Lord and Saviour of the world. I pray that you have a renewing and blessed 2026.
