Planning on going to the Glengarry Market next Sunday? Please help our volunteers by not parking in the station driveway or the grass area directly in front of the fire station. Our volunteer firefighters need to be able to access parking at the station at all times in case we receive a callout. Recommended parking spots are on Main St, out the front of the school, and around the footy oval.

Interconnected smoke alarms will alert you of a fire no matter where the fire starts in your home.

Today at 2pm the Australian Government will be undertaking a national test of AusAlert. AusAlert is a new national warning system to send out messages to compatible mobile devices during times of disaster.

This test will occur nationwide, and your compatible mobile devices such as a mobile phone or tablet may receive a test alert. The notification will vibrate and include a loud siren-like sound for 10 seconds. If this could disrupt you or make you or a loved one feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time and leave them turned off for at least 1 hour after.

Change your smoke alarms to ones with 10-year lithium batteries, so you can be protected longer.

There is a role for everyone as a CFA volunteer. Not all roles in a brigade require you to attend an emergency. There are operational roles and support roles in each brigade.
While we are always in need of more operational firefighters, non-operational roles are just as important to keep the brigade running.

2 of the most important roles within a CFA brigade, and sometimes the hardest to fill, are the roles of secretary and treasurer. Do you have an interest or background in administrative or financial work? Are you looking to find an organisation to utilise your interests and skills to help the community out? The Australian Government is launching AusAlert, a new national warning system that can send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices during times of disaster. AusAlert will be ready for use in October 2026, but before the system launches a nationwide test is required.

On Monday 27 July at 2pm, your mobile devices may receive a test alert. The notification will vibrate and include a loud siren-like sound that lasts for 10 seconds. If this could disrupt you or cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them into aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time and leave them off for at least one hour.

As this will just be a test, you don't need to take any action. Once AusAlert is online and in use, during a disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

✅ Practise the two quickest ways out of every room
✅ Know how you'll exit from upstairs if your home has a second storey
✅ Have an agreed meeting place outside, like the letterbox
✅ Know how you will you call Triple Zero (000)
And remember, once you are out, stay out!
