Tonight at our regular training drill, Captain Mark Edwards was pleased to present Firefighter Steve Benson with his 15-Year National Medal in recognition of his dedicated service.

For the past 15 years, Steve has shown an unwavering commitment to protecting our community, responding when needed, and serving with professionalism and dedication. We are incredibly grateful for everything he has done to help keep our town safe.

Congratulations, Steve, and thank you for your outstanding service. We look forward to many more years of working alongside you.

At 9:15am on Tuesday, 30 June, FRNSW Station 303 was tasked to assist at a motor vehicle accident.

With Gloucester SES controlling the scene, alongside crews from the RFS, NSW Police and NSW Ambulance, all agencies worked together to safely free the patient. The patient was then transported to hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Incidents like these highlight the incredible teamwork and dedication of our emergency services. As a community, we are fortunate to have such highly skilled and committed volunteers and professionals who are ready to respond whenever they're needed.

A sincere thank you to everyone involved for your service and commitment to keeping our community safe.

Last night we held our “Come and See” information session alongside our regular drill night, and what a fantastic turnout it was! We welcomed 10 prospective members who joined our regular crew to see firsthand what being part of FRNSW is all about.
The evening included attending a simulated house fire with persons trapped, giving everyone an insight into the training, teamwork, and commitment involved in the role.

🚨What made you want to become a Firefighter?

Being in the Fire Brigade is a family tradition so I guess it was just something I've always wanted to do. I've been in both FRNSW and the RFS since I was 16.

🚨What is the best part

The best part about being a firefighter at Gloucester is being able to help the community when they are having possibly the worst day of their lives. The job gives you great opportunities to learn new skills. It's also an excellent crew to work with and a great mate ship.

When I'm not running around in a fire truck I'm a self employed carpenter.
