🚨⚓ Jet Ski Assist – Doing It the Right Way

When assisting a disabled jet ski (PWC), technique matters.

Towing directly at speed can force water up through the intake system of the disabled engine, potentially causing serious damage.

That’s why we use a craft raft / rescue sled:
• 🛟 Keeps the vessel out of the water flow
• 🚤 Allows for a controlled and safe tow
• 🔧 Helps prevent engine damage from water ingestion
• ⚖️ Improves stability and handling during the assist

It’s all about protecting the vessel while getting it home safely.

Craft Raft - Quick Guide

Before You Start:

· Check wind conditions. Do not tow without a PWC if wind speed exceeds 15 knots.
Unfold the raft on a flat surface or place it directly in the water.

Inflation:

1. Close all 3 valves before connecting the pump.
2. Inflate all chambers to 80%, then to 100% until firm. Do not over-inflate.
3. An electric pump can be used, but do not exceed 80% inflation with it.

Towing WITHOUT a PWC:

1. Attach the vessel's towrope to the towing eye of the Craft Raft supplied tow rope
2. Clip the Craft Raft supplied tow rope spring hook to the bow D-Ring under the front of the raft or back onto the tow rope

making a choker around the inflated tube
3. Max Speed: 20 knots. Monitor and adjust in windy conditions.

Towing WITH a PWC:

1. Pull the PWC into the raft, ensuring its water pump intake is covered by the mat. There is no need to lash the PWC to the Craft Raft unless the Craft Raft has been deflated
2. Passengers may stay on the PWC, but consider their safety and comfort.
3. Max Speed: 25 knots.

Unloading the PWC:

· Shallow Water: Let the tow line go slack. Push the raft forward while holding the PWC still.
· From a Vessel: Secure the PWC to the stern. Pull the raft forward away from it.
· For a tight fit, partially deflate the raft's tubes to help.
