🚧Public toilets vandalised at Milang Foreshore and Arthur Neighbour Reserve at Goolwa.🚻

The Milang Foreshore public toilets were extensively damaged by vandals over the weekend.

All the toilets were blocked, with lids, dispensers, sharps containers and other items broken or smashed.

Vandals also damaged one of the public toilets at Arthur Neighbour Reserve in Goolwa, near the rose garden and rotunda.

Our Field Services Team cleaned up the cubicles and conducted repairs this morning so the toilets could remain open to the public.

The Team also addressed some vandalism to the flagpoles in Anzac Park in Milang.

Vandalism of this nature costs Council tens of thousands of dollars every year, over and above any insurance claim. The claims also affect the cost of insurance to ratepayers.

👏 Work has started on the Langhorne Creek Discovery Trail! 🚶🏽‍♀️🚴🏽‍♂️

We marked the occasion with an official groundbreaking ceremony at one of the sites along the trail, Alfred Langhorne Park.

Over the next month, early works on the Discovery Trail will involve (weather permitting) the following:
🚧The establishment of site compounds and storage areas within Frank Potts Reserve, First Reserve, and Alfred Langhorne Park.
🚧The creation of access to areas of the project.
🚧 Notification to key members of the public of upcoming works.
🚧Completion of key in-ground services such as connections to power and water.

In August 2025, Council secured a $7.06 million grant from the Australian Government’s regional Precincts and Partnerships Program (rPPP) to develop the Langhorne Creek Discovery Trail and create new opportunities for tourism and investment in the region.

This project is more than a trail. It’s about:
🍇Positioning Langhorne Creek as a visitor destination to match its world-class wine reputation
💡 Creating opportunities for local businesses to innovate and diversify
🌱 Sustaining jobs and building a vibrant future for the community
🤝 Community-led activation, driven by the Project Partnership Group, including Langhorne Creek Grape and Wine Association, the Langhorne Creek Hub, the Ngarrindjeri Aboriginal Corporation, and Alexandrina Council.

Temporary speed restrictions at the Goolwa for Coastrek event🚶‍♀️

A 25 km/h speed restriction will apply on Dunbar Road and Cutting Road in the Goolwa Wharf Precinct on Friday 4 September 2026, between 4am and 10:30am.

A 25km/h speed restriction will also apply on Barrage Road and Billabong Road on Friday 4 September between 9am and 4:30pm.

🌱Building backyard biodiversity one plant at a time! 🦋

As part of our Alexandrina Greening and Wildlife Project, 100 Alexandrina residents recently received a subsidised plant pack of 10 native plants for $10.

These indigenous shrubs local to Alexandrina, were grown at the Alexandrina Community Nursery.

A special thank you to the volunteers who have contributed to the propagation and raising of the seedlings.👏🏽

The Alexandrina Greening and Wildlife project is a collaboration between Alexandrina Council and Second Nature Conservancy, funded through our 2025/26 Annual Community Plan.
