Goomburra history required.

CREAM SHELTER
We have had an inquiry about the old cream shelter at the intersection of Goomburra and K***a Roads. Perhaps some of our followers can tell us about it. The fact that it faces the road and is not adjacent to the K***a railway siding suggests that it dates from the days of the cartage of cream by road rather than the railway which closed in 1962.
Perhaps someone can tell us about other roadside cream shelters in the Allora district. There was one at the corner of Upper Spring Creek Road and Telford Road opposite Abernethy’s house. This was probably used by the Telford family of ‘Glenrock’ to leave their cream to be picked by Jack McDonnell’s cream truck.
There was another shelter on the New England Highway near the Saal Road corner. This was probably used by those in the area to leave their cream to be picked up by the truck which picked up the Pilton valley cream and carted it to the Allora butter factory. In later year the milko would leave the Headington Hill school milk there, where it was picked up of a morning by Dick Newport and taken to the school.

Today, instead of looking up at the sky, we're looking down from space using water vapour satellite imagery.

It shows a low pressure system in the shape of a spiral, moving away from the country in the Tasman Sea. This system helped drive the showers and storms that impacted parts of eastern New South Wales yesterday.

These infrared satellite images, taken from thousands of kilometres above ground, help us track invisible moisture in the upper-levels of the atmosphere. They allow us to map jet streams, locate high pressure ridges, and predict where severe storms could develop.

It was an edge of the seat clash at Platz Oval last Saturday evening before a packed house crowd, between the Wattles Warriors A Graders and Southern Suburbs Tigers for the sake of a slot in this season’s business end of the premiership finals.
